Montenegro - suggestions for quiet holiday

We've booked flights for the summer to Montenegro and are looking for a quiet resort by the sea. Not interested in night life and discos just a few restaurants. Have had a look on Trip Advisor but been a bit overwhelmed by the choices to be honest. Anyone been to Montenegro, and any suggestions?

Budva is worth consideration.0

Budva is a lovely old town right by the sea. Most accomodation is by the two beaches either side of the old town. Make sure you visit the island of Sveti Stefan. You can catch the ferry to there direct from Budva. Also make sure you visit the town and gulf of Kotor (lovely setting). Also if you get a chance try and take a trip inland to see some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Europe.0

Budva! That's a terrible suggestion, not least because Budva is full of rich Russians who love to flaunt their wealth.
If you're looking for a peaceful holiday, then the best suggestion is to go to Perast. It has the benefit of being in Kotor Bay - which is beautiful - but also has the benefit of being rather quieter than the other towns in the bay or on the Montenegrin Riveria. Cars belonging to tourists are also prohibited there, meaning that the village is rather peaceful.
As for visiting Sveti Stefan, that won't happen, not least because you can only access the island by either staying in the resort there or having a confirmed lunch/dinner reservation. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.

thanks for this - will check out Perast - sounds what we're looking for. Is Sveti Stefan really expensive as it seems so exclusive?

The sea-facing coast of Montenegro is pretty much the worst part of the country.
However, the bay of Kotor is absolutely wonderful so I'd definitely recommend staying there. Perast is absolutely wonderful and I stayed there, couldn't recommend it more highly. Kotor town is a bit bigger and all of the villages in the bay are worth a visit.
Another alternative is Lake Skadar in the south of the country which is beautiful and very quiet, although you wouldn't be by the sea.0 -

It is horrifically expensive, although that's partially because it used to be the playground of the rich and famous in Yugoslavia.
Perast will probably meet your needs perfectly, as it is tranquil and yet the sea is extraordinary there. I'd advise not staying in Kotor, as it is very very loud. Last time I was there, you could take a bus along the Bay for 1 euro each.
The nice thing about Perast is that you can easily get to other places from there. A good day trip would be to Herceg-Novi, which seems convincingly Italian to me.From Poland...with love.

I have always wanted to go there and never considered a diy, thought a cruise stop off would be the only easy way to see it. Would you tell me who you're flying with and from which airport. Were the flights expensive. What about transfers from the airport to resorts. Sorry for the questions could probably do some research and find out but no point in re inventing the wheel IYSWIM
many thanks

Why the hell is it a terrible suggestion? Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean other people shouldn’t consider it. And what a completely idiotic reason to give about it being full of rich Russian tourists. Yes many Russians visit Montenegro as they do other parts of the med such as Cyprus and Turkey. But that doesn’t stop millions of other people going to them places!! And as for Sveti Stefan being exclusive and off limits to the public? Well we got off the ferry and walked right in and went to the bar and had a coffee and no questions asked.0
