  • weather has been lovely where I am, its nice to have some sunshine finally instead of all the rain.

Putting the £600 towards the mortgage is great :) and even if you need to build one in the future, the interest you will have saved will probably offset the cost of buying one so you are still up (if that makes sense?)

Gorgeous weather here too..sorry:p if the bike store isn't an essential I would definitely pay it off the mortgage, if you get fed up of the bike being indoors you can always save up for one in the future. Well done on eBay too:T

  • Thanks Mrs RT & Crumpets, yes I think we probably pay the money off the mortgage.

Put some more bits on Fleabay today, just 99p items so not expecting to make millions! But every little helps, and you never know when a bidding war is going to break out over Peppa Pig wellies do you? :rotfl: I've found that listing from my iPhone is so much easier than from the laptop as I used to do it, so that's incentivising me. I have wardrobes full of kids outgrown clothes, I sold some at the NCT Nearly New Sale last year but missed the most recent one. At 1.5 DD is safe to be out of the playpen (unlike her mad brother who was in it for years!) So am hoping to make a bit on that as they're £70+ new.

Saw a tiny bit of sunshine today [round of applause] ;)

  • Well if being MSE is defined as spending wisely then it's been a *very* MSE week she says trying to justify excessive profligacy :rotfl: . I just seem to have been very lucky with sales recently! I got stacks of stuff for the kids and a few bits for me & OH, all half price at least, some up to 75% off, all stuff we'll use. Also got a few bits for OH's birthday next month. It seems to have been a week of bargains - I found a Gruffalo pencil case in Waterstones, just what DS has been after, reduced from £10 to £4.99 and then I had £2.53's worth of points to spend, so got it for £2.46!

Still on course I think just to pay £1000 off the mortgage at end of the month. There may be another £1000 free too, as we had put some money aside to give as a gift to a distant family member who did some kind things for our late grandparents in their latter years, but who wasn't included in the earlier made wills (complicated but wills couldn't be changed later as issues with capacity of one grandparent.) We had a chat with my SIL & said we'd like to do something, spoke to MIL who agreed but said that she hopes to give a bigger amount on behalf of us all from the wider estate when it is all clarified. I think MIL wants us to have all the money we were bequeathed as that's what grandparents intended, there are other funds to cover legacies to the wider family apparently. We'll go with what MIL wants as it was her parents and she knows the wider estate/intentions better.

And a bidding war has broken out over a pair of tights for a 2 year old on Fleabay, so I should have another £1.27 or possibly even more to OP by tomorrow ;)

Hope everyone has a good Saturday xx

  • Well after a bidding war involving ten people the tights went for £7.01, no idea why, but it's £2.01 more than I paid for the skirt and tights set, so I've got a free skirt for DD & made a profit
    :T

Meanwhile I've realised I've been planning to make a fish pie tomorrow with no fish, that'd be a novelty :rotfl: Will have to dispatch OH to Sainsys, not the cheapest but needs must when I've been a bit of a dingbat food shopping-wise!

I keep forgetting to say, does anyone know of a lender that allows 10% of original loan in OPs per year, other than offsets or those products with unlimited OPs obviously? I only ask as it came up on another thread about my lender, Skipton BS. When I was looking to re-mortgage Skippers were the only ones who didn't cap the OPs at 10% of remaining balance. Have to say I've had nothing but fabulous products and services from Skipton in the 11 years I've been with them.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend :)

    Hi,
Hope you are well? Really good to hear your mortgage could be down to under £20,000 very soon.....excited for you. Really can't wait to hear that you are making your very last payment.....it will come round before you know it!
  • Hi teabody, thanks for dropping by :)

I'm fine thanks, seem to be over the viruses and infections [STRIKE]famous last words[/STRIKE] ;)

The mortgage is certainly reducing. Still hoping to pay another whack off it at the end of this week - OH gets paid on Fri but I may do the OP on Thurs as I'm in town that day and like to pop in to the BS, if I pay by cheque the OP goes through instantly in terms of interest reduction, if I do it via Faster Payments it takes a few days. Plus in all honesty I like a natter with the staff, they're a friendly bunch I've known for years!

I've just found your diary and subscribed btw :T
