Lamewolf it rarely happens like that. There are usually signs in the marriage that things aren't what it should be. These signs aren't usually displayed for all to see. I was blind to see my first marriage was failing but the signs were there. I'm sure your friends were just very good at covering up their unhappiness in the marriage.
I know you're right, Judi; I've been round the circuit once, as has Mr LW (we describe ourselves as "recycled" lol) but such is my total lack of self-confidence that the thought creeps in whether I like it or not.:(

I’m back at work for the week.

Dinner last night was tuna pasta bake which I got off a website forum. Girls refused to even touch it. I made it as they say they have it at daddy’s house, but apparently it was the “wrong colour.” Think I might just have to bite the bullet and ask him how he makes this damn tuna pasta that is so nice!

Cos they didn’t want to eat it (it was lovely by the way), it is my lunch at work for today and tomorrow. Waste not, want not.

Driving myself mad about getting a pension. There seems to be so many companies out there, I have no clue which one to go with. Found something on my bank’s website (do banks do pensions?) and going to ring them up and see if they can help me. My boss has said he will contribute towards a pension, so I need to find a company that will let my boss put money in as well as me.

Oh gosh, had forgotten it was pancake day. Will I actually give up alcohol this year? Hmmmm. Haven’t quite decided yet. My girls have decided they don’t like pancakes (how would they know? They’ve never tried them as they keep refusing).

My car passed its MOT on Saturday. Still can’t quite get over that, but so pleased it’s out the way for another year. Had a full service done as well as the car is getting on a bit and has done over 110,000 miles!

Re the whole planting thing as I suppose that time is coming up. My 5 year old wants to grow a sunflower. Are they hard? Can you just grow one? Can I just buy a seed and stick it in the ground?

Can anyone give me any advice re all the food delivery companies out there? I saw an Abel & Cole van yesterday driving past my road (they do meat, right? Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree?) And any of those vegetable companies. I’m trying so hard to cook new stuff for my two little girls, but I have no idea what to cook. Are these companies really expensive? Will I get inspiration from what I get sent?

NMLC – your dinner sounds delish! And as I’m always looking for things my girls might eat… can you tell me how you made it please? I’m a bit simple when it comes to cooking, so step by step may be needed!

SISTERCAS/SNOOZER – might have to look up this programme on Mary Berry. Cos of Sky Plus, new programmes that might get advertised by go right past me as I watch everything that I’ve recorded and fast forward through any adverts.

SISTERCAS – so er, what’s dd2 going to have for dinner tonight? I know! She can have crispy pancakes, mmm I quite liked them. And then pancakes with lemon and sugar for pudding. Man, I’m making myself hungry now!

JUDI – sorry to hear about your youngest. What kind of accident did he have?

    Afternoon all
Another Blue Sky and golden ball in the sky day, however, the temperatures are a little lacking!

DH has nipped out with Skye to have a word with a neighbour/friend, he went for 10 mins. about an hour ago :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am rebuilding my desktop PC, its working (it was before but wanted to add an extra HDD), but now have to go through all the paraphernalia of loading the windows updates, why they cannot summarise these, instead of update after update. Once I have got this then I will put on the Office software, the make an imagine so I have a head start if I want to do it again.

I did pancakes at lunch time, but just had to grab a slice of toast as they often leave me hungry a short time later. Diet on the list once I have been shopping, a neighbour got me the Aldi voucher, so I will re-stock with that.

I got some reduced Venison Cubes from Aldi out of the freezer yesterday, but they were not thawed enough for the SC, so popped them in it with some LO red wine, to marinade until tomorrow, when I will pop the SC on. Luckily I got some sausages out too.

pollyanna Without being awful, do you think your kids know they can play you up with food, and they do not get away with it at Dad's? I think eat your dinner, or have some bread for a day or too might get the message through (or eat that and there is nothing else until the next meal) which if it were me it would be the same warmed up. (Tuf luv here). I seem to think that if they were served what you serve at Dad's they would say it was marvellous to you. Kids can be very fickle.

(((hugs))), spoons, and positive vibes all round. Take care everyone. DG

Pollyanna sunflowers are extremely easy to grow - sunflower seeds from wild bird food mix will grow if they get buried and the birds miss them!:D

Had lovely time in the garden snipping away, even had coffee, cake and a sandwich out there in a little sheltered spot, so nice to get the washing dry outside too.

It was so good swimming in our local pool with the sun streaming through the windows, felt very summery.

Hugs to all, retired husband still on top of the patio, so far, so good!

    Evening all,

Pretty fedup with myself these days, am practically unable to walk as legs and back are giving me hell....decided yesterday to take a 20 minute walk and it has made things worse than ever, am taking tabs doc prescribed last week but dont think they making any difference, going to take 2 paracetamol in a bit in the hope they will just knock me over the edge into sleep. Feeling sorry for myself tonight, nights sleep will sort me out.

We didnt have any pancakes tonight, neither of us feeling up to making them, nor are we very hungry, so will have them for breakfast at weekend instead. Have put some salt ling to soak in water for dinner....its traditional for Christmas Eve in West Kerry where OH comes from, but fancied it now instead so am having it cooked in milk, will make onion sauce with the milk and onions, whatever veg I fancy tomorrow and lots of mash....havent had it for ages so really looking forward to it.

Been nice today here, although we had a shower this afternoon, had been hoping that OH would think of mowing the lawns, so that will put an end to that notion.

Have some tomato plants ready to pot on, but need to sow some more seed, also peppers and squash, as they need lots of time.

Hugs to all who may need or want one, stay safe and keep well

    Evening everyone

Pollyana - Smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce.

    Pasta - I use dried penne -
    Smoked sausage
    Garlic
    Creme fraiche
    Grated cheese of your choice
Black pepper - I use from a grinder
    Mushrooms - optional

Slice smoked sausage and saute in a little oil with some garlic to your taste. Add sliced up mushrooms. Cook the pasta, recipes say allow 75g per person this may be too much for your girls though.
Once pasta is cooked (if dried will take approx 10-13 mins ish), drain and then mix the saute sausage/mushroom mixture and pasta together, then add the creme fraiche - you just need enough to make a sauce that coats the pasta nicely - stir this altogether in a saucepan over a lot heat so it heats the creme fraiche through thoroughly then add black pepper to taste - serve into pasta bowls/plates and add grated cheese on top for those that want it - enjoy!

You can alter the ingredients about - I have found creme fraiche really good for making a sauce, sometimes I use the basis of this recipe to make other pasta dishes - u can use LO roast chicken with mushrooms, bacon, ham or veggies if you don't eat meat.
