Old Style Daily Thread Tuesday 4th March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Late again so another hi and fly by.

YS chicken wrapped in YS ham with cauliflower fake colcannon for dinner, more Thai omelette for lunch.

Have had an Amazon sale on pending for days and I wish it would hurry up and sell or go back on sale, am cheesed off that the price has gone up considerably since I listed it for sale. Makes note to check occasionally and reprice!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning :hello:

Butterfly Brain Congrats to your daughter :T

I woke up this morning feeling elated – the epic dental work is finally over :D I had the front tooth out yesterday and now have a fake one (can't quite bring myself to say 'false', I'm not old enough for that yet LMAO). I was just going to have the front one, but I asked for one on the other side too. You couldn't see that gap really, it's further back but I hated it so they made one for that too. Dentist said I can have a bridge if I don't get on with it, but not for a few months while the gum heals so either way I'd have to have a fake one fitted now. By teatime I'd decided to have the bridge, I KNOW I'm not going to get on with this plate :D It's going to take a bit of getting used to, but it looks so much better. I think I sound odd when I speak, everyone said I sound normal. Til I said 'shed' then they cracked up, I need to work on my 'sh' sounds :D

Miss tru started her new job yesterday, she loves it :T It's right up her street – costume jewellery :D

I was doing some crochet yesterday and my thumb went numb then I had pins and needles. So I'm not doing any today. Well, I'll leave it a few hours and try again later :D

I'm one of those people atm – we've had a mattress in the garden for a few weeks :rotfl: There's other rubbish too, I'll sort through it and get the van booked in at the tip for friday. It'll be nice to see my garden chairs again (I'm sure they're still under the rubbish somewhere!) and get them cleaned up.

I have a pile of paperwork to get through, haven't been able to face it for the last couple of weeks. But I'm feeling energised and capable of anything at the moment so I'll get it sorted first thing this morning, then start other jobs that I've been putting off.

Morning chums another busy day ahead.Round to DDs before 7.45 and walk the dog, then the school run then back home for half an hour and a cuppa then off to eldest DD's to wait for the delivery man to arrive with her new sofas. If my son-inlaw gets back in time I have a coffee morning to attend (he is in MaiDstone for a pre-op hospital appointment at 8.00 and then will come back to relieve me from delivery waiting :):):))then home for a quick bite of lunch, via youngest Dds house (to let the little dog out for a quick toilet break first) and then off to visit my old craft class whom I haven't seen for ages owing to being tied up with family stuff.
Then pick up smallest DGS from school along with my pancake pan from home and take both back to his house where I have to make a large pot of batter for the boys pancakes .
Hopefully DD will be home by 6.15p.m. and I can get home for another munch-on-the-run meal, then off to the local pub for Tuesday is quiz night .Home by 10.30 and a quick shower and bed, and breathe :):):)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, very cold and frosty but sun shining. Supposed to be getting warmer and temperature up to 8-9 degrees today – we’ll see!

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta with crème fraiche sauce, was delish. Tonight it’s fish, chips and beans for the menfolk, I’ll be having fish, jacket potato and veg.

Work was reasonably busy yesterday so will have to see what happens today. The road closures caused chaos as expected yesterday on the other side of town but wasn’t actually too bad near my work, most people were under the impression the whole road and bridge was closed it’s just vehicle access across the bridge and the roads are still open.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning all.

Jackie, I'm tired just reading what you're up to today!
Lonewhitewolf, I expect you're right tbh. He prob is holding out unfortunately.

Once I've got the youngest at school, I shall pop to A$da, come home, have a shower, eat breakfast & then do housework. Then when the kids get home I will be on pancake duty. I have to go out at 5:30 as am doing a course on autism.

Sorted the cupboards out yesterday & also went to Aldi. Am sorted for the month really appear from perishables. I'm hoping to get a chest freezer for the garage sometime soon so I can stock up a bit further for the month.

I'm off now, need to try & get small child to eat something before school.

    Love, hugs & spoons xxx

    Hi everyone,

Need to get myself into gear and go to Bedford to return some trousers at M & S and get some rotary cutter blades from Dunelm Mill - they seem to be the cheapest.

I watched Mary Berry last night, wondering if it would be too simplified but she gave some really good tips, even though the recipes were simple. I should think the programme would be very inspiring to people wanting to start baking.

It's DS gf's birthday today. She asked me to make a carrot cake for her to take in to work. I was happy to do it, it's so much cheaper than buying one and she's really trying to get hold of their finances so I want to encourage her.

I'm really missing my daily phone call to mum, it's funny because she would never chat on the phone and some calls were really short, but I can't get used to her not being there.
