over the years my partner has had a loan for a new car and a couple of home improvement loans.
he cant remeber if he had PPI on them and cant find any paperwork. but after getting his credit history he now have the infomation saying who the loans were with.
however, after reading martins guide he is a little confused as to the correct process so this is what I thing he should do so please correct me if i am wrong.
find the contact number for the loan provider and explain he has had a loan with them in the past and could they tell him if he had PPI with the loan.
if the answer is yes, tell them he would like to request a refund on this as he believes he was mis-sold the PPI.
hopefully they will say yes he will fill in any relevent forms and get a refund.
if they say no to a refund tell them he will take the claim to the financial ambudsman.
am i correct??

Although some lenders do accept telephone complaints, it is usually better to do so by letter.
On what basis is he going to complain the PPI was mis-sold? He'll need valid reasons and cannot simply "request a refund".0 -
he is ringing first as he cant remember if he had PPI with each loan, hopefully the will be able to tell him either way.
like most at the time he believed the PPI would benefit him, not sure of the correct term for that.
if he was sold PPI which template letter is he to use as there are a few on martins guide?SPC 0370 -

Download and print the ppi questionnaire from Financial Ombudsman Service website, fill it in and send with evidence showing you actually paid for the ppi. You need verifiable reasons to complain that it was mis-sold such as front loaded ppi, long term employers sick pay etc0

how does he show evidence he actually paid the PPI?
the last loan finished 2 yrs ago and has since moved in with me and is unsure if he has any paperwork.
as for a reason for a refund, is... i believed the taking out PPI would benefit me incase i was unable to make a payment. a valid reason??SPC 0370 -

Probably better to cross each bridge as you come to it.i believed the taking out PPI would benefit me incase i was unable to make a payment. a valid reason??0 -
Well this could prove impossible unless he actually did!
it seems he is in a no win situation then? he paid each loan off in full so that is proof it's self?SPC 0370 -
it's not a claim
It is a complaint, but first you have to find out if you have anything to complain about. As above, if he cant remember having ppi, how can he actually remember why it was miss sold. If he had it, he has to have verifiable evidence that it was miss sold. Not just a script made up ie .
'i believed the taking out PPI would benefit me incase i was unable to make a payment. a valid reason'make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

What do you think has been done wrong, when and by who?
All you do is write to the wrongdoer and put in a complaint about whatever you think they're done wrong. Then wait for an answer.
If you haven't a clue and are just looking to jump on the bandwagon in the hope of getting money then you won't get very far.0
