I order BT Infinity on the 14/02/14 with Phone and was told the activation date will be the 28/02/14.
On Friday 28th my Phone line was switched across but was told on the website there was a delay on the broadband.
After waiting all weekend with no contact from BT regarding this I called them to get a update and was told: That the issue was at the exchange and a engineer will fix the problem between 1pm and 6pm on the 4/3/12. I thought great........
At 1pm I check the website to see if it had been update and was shocked to find my new date was the 11th of March. So I called again and was told that I need to engineers one on the 4th at the exchange and a second on the 11th outside my flat. When I said that was not good enough they brought the second engineer forward to the 6th. I though great.....
I then get home and find that they had called my wife arranging access to my flat on the 11th. So I phoned again and was told they need three engineers two the same as before and one in my flat. I have fined the phone call saying that if it is not installed by the end of the week I am going to cancel. So I am awaiting a call back (Which I don't think is going to arrive)
Just thought I would let everyone know that your original activation date does not mend anything and they seem to change at wim

Due to flooding etc BT OR are well behind with work as has been posted on this board .
Under normal circumstances when BT OR say we will be with you on the 30th they may well but they also may just not turn up .0 -
I ordered on the 4th, got an install date of the 14th Feb. Cancelled and rescheduled twice, then they didn't show up. I was told at least four different reasons for the delays, none of which were true, and I proved it. They offered a new date of mid-March, more than ten days after my existing contract would have terminated so I would have had nothing for at least ten days and that assumes they showed up.
I cancelled the order, and then spent a further ten minutes proving that I had paid for the landline for a year and having to demand a refund. I got it, eventually.
Virgin Media were lovely and took me back with a much better package. I didn't even have to send them flowers.
Edit: Don't believe anything the website tells you about your order. Top tip! Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Sounds like your experience was similar to mine...

Openreache really are not fit for purpose.
VM started suffering congestion again though during that extra year so I did dump them and moved to Plusnet fibre. Openereach did bother to turn up this time around. Strangely enough there were signs that VM had tackled the congestion a few days before I moved but that was, of course, far too late.0 -
As expected I did not get a call back so called and was lied to regarding date.
So far I have been given 5 going live dates and each one has been missed and each time I have to call up BT.
Currently back to the 11th now almost two weeks after my going date.
Does anyone know if there service improves after getting connected as I am thinking about cutting my losses and going somewhere else?

Nope. It doesn't improve. If you are lucky you wont have to speak to them again. If you do have a problem though be prepared for more of the same.0
