Credit card, AP, statute barred?

I had a Barclaycard, and had an 'arrangement to pay' after getting into trouble I the early 2000's.

After checking Noddle recently, I noticed this account has all green marks 'up to date', but are mostly marked AP. There is also a balance of £15.

As far as I was aware this was paid off in 2007, but upon checking old paperwork today, it seems the last payment I made was a direct debit of £25 in July 2007 and there is a scribble by me saying £15 odd. I thought this last payment had come out, but maybe it didn't going by Noddle.

I would like to get this sorted and the account marked as settled/closed.

Now, how would I go about this.. Is this remaining £15 now statute barred, do I call them about getting the AP's removed?

The account is not in use (haven't had the card since early 2000's), and I'm currently trying to claim PPI etc back on this card.

Could anyone advise?

By the sounds of it it should have been defaulted no more than 6 months after you made what you thought was the final payment.

Does it have green ticks from then until now?

If your final payment was before about Sept 2007 changing it to a default will cause it to drop off your file. It would also be statute barred even if the last payment was Dec 2007 (unless you have otherwise acknowledged it.)

I'd probably speak to them and inform them that it clearly defaulted since around 6 years have passed and no payment has been made and that the AP markers are incorrect and a default marker is the true representation of the account's standing.

So I have to tell them to default it.. will they do that on my request?

This is what it looks like.

Could I just write to them, and say I'm concerned that Noddle is showing AP's, and as far as I'm aware this card was paid off years ago, and can they remove the AP's or investigate?

Would this encourage them to default it, or do you think they would just cancel the account?

I think I'll try sending a letter, unless anyone else has any other suggestions?

Ask them nicely to remove the account from your file.

    Barclaycard is absolutely outrageous.

If you ask Barclaycard nicely to remove the AP markers they will respond refusing to do this and saying that they thought they were doing you a favour by doing that instead of defaulting you. You should save yourself some time and make a complaint straight away.

Yeah complain about them misusing AP markers.

AP markers are slightly less serious than a default, but if they had defaulted you after six months, like they should have, the entire account would be dropping off your credit file in around November 2014. As it stands the account will not drop off your file until 6 years after you settle the account.

    HI

I spent an hour on the phone with Barclaycard last week asking them to remove my AP markers and change them to a default, they were adamant that they wouldn't do this, they say as I haven;t actually defaulted. I kept on at them about how a default would be better for me, but they were having none of it. I even mentioned this site and the ombudsman but to no avail. Hope you have better luck
