We had to make the decision for our little old boy just before Christmas. It's the hardest decision in the World to make but when you love your dog, you have to do the right thing for them. You love your girl and you've made the right decision for her. Take comfort in all the love and good times you've shared over all those years. Stay strong. Deepest condolences.xxx

Thanks to everyone for your support.

She went very peacefully - I held it together until the vet checked her heart and said she'd gone - then broke down :(.

Even though we have a lot of other dogs she was very special to us - as indeed are they all in their own right - and it never gets any easier to let them go.

Very sorry to hear this, but it's the last act of kindness. Time will heal and you'll remember all the good times. I had my beloved boxer boy pts in January this year after he started fitting and he couldn't be treated. Me and my wife cried like babies in the vets, no shame in it. Take comfort from your other dogs, they will be feeling the loss as well.

I'm sitting here feeling really sad  - I finally called the vet and have got an appointment for tonight to take my old girl in to be PTS. She is almost 17 years old and her quality of life is compromised so, although I know we're doing the right thing for her - it's just so hard :(.

I don't really know why I'm posting - I'm not after sympathy (and please no "Rainbow Bridge") - I just really wanted to tell someone .........

I know that this won't make any sense to you yet, but in time hopefully you will realise that your dog lived to a good age and from the sounds of it you gave her a good and happy life, at the end of the day that's all we can do.
