Time to say goodbye

I'm sitting here feeling really sad  - I finally called the vet and have got an appointment for tonight to take my old girl in to be PTS. She is almost 17 years old and her quality of life is compromised so, although I know we're doing the right thing for her - it's just so hard :(.

I don't really know why I'm posting - I'm not after sympathy (and please no "Rainbow Bridge") - I just really wanted to tell someone .........
"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that stupid people won't be offended.

{hugs} I know how hard it is - but it is the most loving thing you can do for your beloved dog. Better a day too early than a day too late.

    Thinking of you.

Really sorry to hear about your girl. I know, sadly, just how difficult a time it is

Hope all goes as well as it can do in such sad circumstances and also sending virtual hugs.

After making the same decision a few days ago I know just how you feel, it's an awful thing to have to do.

I had to let my little dog go last year. It totally broke my heart, I only had 7 years with her and she was my best friend. The tears are now tripping me writing this.

My only advice is be with her, tell her how much you love her and be happy in the knowledge that she will find great comfort in that you are with her at the end.

This is the only bad part of owning a pet, sadly they usually go before we do.

Take comfort in the fact that your memories live on and that she knows that you loved her.

My lovely poodle was put to sleep last month and it killed me. He was my shadow and I still expect him to be right next to me every day.

Only you and your lovely girl know what is right and she trusts you 100% to do what's right for HER.

I'll be thinking about you both now for the rest of the day.

    Be kind to yourself.

So sorry for you frugalista, and for your girl. You're doing the right thing no matter how wrong it feels. My thoughts are with you. Be strong.

  • my thoughts are with you, had to make a similar decision for our beloved 20 yr old cat last November ~ very sad but you are being the caring responsible owner when you know the time has come, as much as it breaks your heart...

    take care xx
