Take the meat out of the packet and wrap it in foil, make sure your fridge is cold enough most people have fridges too warm, your meat will stay fresh longer.

Meat starts to smell in the packaging after a few days, also how long is your meat out of the fridge? from the time you take it off the shelves 1-2hrs, get all your shopping then go to the meat counter this will cut the time down by about 30mins, put the meat in two bags and tie in a knot this will help keep it cool.

Try it all these things work.

Good information Wayne.Sometimes in our local Asda we can get some great
cuts of meat price reduced to crazy amounts i.e 80p.Sirloin steak is a favourite. This will go straight into our freezer as usually the date will be on the day of purchase.Within the month we will have used it.The good thing is
that it tastes much better knowing that it was only a fraction of the price.
Always do a check before you buy and make sure your freezing conditions are up to standard.

I have noticed that the organic meat is usually in the cut price bit of the fridges with the other reduced stuff cos its so expensive to start with hardly anyone buys it. Apparently organic chicken is miles tastier than ordinary chicken so it would be a good deal if you eat it straight away. Haven't tried it myself yet cos I don't eat much chicken anyway but may try it in the future. I agree that Asda are shocking with their meat. Their fridges are never as cool as they are supposed to be.

I bought an organic chicken from Asda last week (£5.77). When I got home, I noticed it was out of date; open the packaging and it was stinking  . I got straight on the phone ane complained and was told to pop in the next time I was passing and they would "see me ok".

When I went back, the customer services assistant was grumpy, unhelpful and only gave me £5.80. If i wasn't in such a hurry, I would have demanded to speak to the manager!
I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....

Our local ASDA is very good with meat. They do great cuts of beef. I'll freely concede though that unless we are cooking meat same or next day it always gets frozen in our household so best before dates are never really an issue.

Apparently, if you do not know what you are entitled to when you return items and depending on who is at customer services at the time, your experience will be different, which is not fair.
