I try and always buy from my Local butcher as the meat is fantastic no waste or anything, he even says where the meat has come from and it is hung for 2 weeks before he sells it apparently. Everyone i have recommended to this butcher has been very very satisfied, it's in the town centre so perhaps 3-4 miles each way but worth the journey, If i ever need meat in an emergency the only meat i would recommend is Tesco's but even then you have to be careful still, i stopped buying Asda meat years ago as it is as someone else quoted c***.

You usually get what you pay for , Asda i use for Brands and their bakery stuff but that's about it now as i think they went a little cheap and cheerful and i prefer to pay a little more for the quality items.

If anyone is in the North East and wants the name of the Butchers let me know , It's well worth it !

We have shopped at ASDA for 10 years and have had one problem in all that time with a Chicken which still had its head attached!!! Everything else has been good. Especially recommend the frozen lamb joint

That's a good record then for the meat in your local ASDA i wonder if all stores get the same supplier or if it varies with regions ??

Enough to make you want to try a few more vegetarian recipes!

There is a very good offer on Linda Mcarthy frozen vegetarian produts, flashed packs (on offer at Tesco), send four tokens get a £5 Kumala wine voucher. Just a suggestion!

  • Hi
It's not just meat that you get double your money back on it's any asda branded goods. It's called 100% guarentee and it's on any asda or smartprice product. You are entitled to a refund and a replacement if you would rather. You do need your receipt to get double the cash back tho! I used to work for asda customer services and they have loads of daft offers like this that they don't advertise properly.

  • I wouldn't buy meat from Asda again, I've also had quite a few bad experiences with chicken and Customer Services treated me like dirt when I complained, although I did get refund plus money back. I'm sure that I've read a thread already about Asda's meat quality being the worst out of all supermarket chains.

given this, and the amount ASDA are paying back due to their moneyback policy, why don't they just shorten the date on all its meat by 24-48hrs?

Might reduce shelf life a tad, but better than paying back all the customers, or loosing ones that just don't come back!

    Cheers

Haven't bought meat from Asda for years now. Had thrown one lot of mince out, took the next lot back cos it was off too and never bought any more meat from there since.

Did take cheese back once that was 'howling' and kicked up such a fuss that they gave me a £10 credit card back to spend in store.
Store manager was very apologetic about it.
