Gas Supply been cut-off/disconnected ???

Hi All
Just purchased a property and there is NO gas meter, all i have is the isolation valve which has been recently capped off (can tell as the cap is brand new/clean).
BUT the pipe end supplying the property has just been cut, not sawn, just snipped randomly near the near to where the meter was !!!!
Is this normal procedure for a disconnection ?
Surely they would undo the connection and not just cut through it ??
Anyone had experience of this ?
Thanks

What you need to do if there is a handle which is called an ecv on there is call your gas network and ask for a live or dead check - if live then if you want to have gas you can then approach any gas supplier who will arrange for a meter to be installed and start supply - if dead then you would need to pay for a new supply to be installed via the network. If no handle still need to ask for live or dead check but process is a little different as they would need to do something outside for safety reasons first.
There are several reasons that there could be a new tap there,I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
