What about Center Parcs Europe? They are a fraction of the cost of the UK ones.
We are going over to Netherlands in August.
Booked the ferry with Club Card Deals (P & O Ferries).

Center Parcs also have French resorts.

  • Other than speed ferries the other cheap method of crossing is via www.transeuropaferries.co.uk from Ramsgate to Ostende.

As merlinormartin and stamford mentioned earlier, have a look at De Panne, it is right on the coast about 5 miles away from Veurne and a typical seaside resort, lovely wide sandy beach, nice prom, loads of cafes, bars etc. and probably more choice of accomadation than Veurne. The whole coast from there to Zeebrugge is really nice, there are 2 Sunpark resorts nearby, centre park type place, either to stay or visit for the day, Plopisland is no Alton Towers, but is worth a visit.

Try looking at Bonsai Hotels or Campanile, all of them are similar to our Travelodge or there is even the Formula 1 chain if you don't mind not having your own bathroom. If you are looking to pick up some good booze bargains while you are there Aidinkerque is the place to go, dead easy to find, just the other side of the canal to De Panne.
