:D I meant cooked potato and a nice crispy chip are not the same thing. You don't want raw potato in your chip, nor a floppy cooked potato to dip into ketchup. Yuck. I wait and wait and wait and the chip barely cooks, let alone crisps...

Mine arrived a day or two ago and have just heated something in it. Took the opportunity to put an oven thermometer inside to see whether the heat setting matched the temperature inside the oven.

Without the extender ring and at a setting of 175, the temperature at the bottom (after 15 minutes) was 150; and halfway up not much more. Might explain why some people aren't getting good results and/or cooking takes far longer than expected.
  • I bought one of these. Tried roast chicken and it didn't cook evenly even though I turned the chick several times. Didn't cook round the bottom edges.
Tried a casserole in it yesterday and the bottom of the bowl didn't get very hot at all....food wasn't cooking except on the top. I couldn't touch the top part of the bowl..it was very hot but the bottom was lukewarm...no bubbles from the food at the bottom or even half way up after over an hour. I gave up and transferred the casserole to a pan and finished cooking on the stove. I will return this item for a refund if I can find out how. The site says I don't have an account even though they send me emails.
    Bah!

Bought one of these on 6 March. Have used it a couple of times, not very successfully, but tried to use it again today and it is completely dead. Timer dial turns, but no lights, no heat. Plug and fuse seem OK.

Assume I have to send it back to The Works, but because of weight, this will cost me more than the £13.99 I paid for it.

Anyone have experience of returning one of these ie can I hand it in to store despite being bought on line?

Had my question answered. Contacted The Works by e-mail, had very prompt reply and freepost label for return.

    Happy with service.

I emailed the company on March 24th and they said they would arrange for it to be picked up and money refunded....has been packed and ready since then.

When they e-mailed me, they attached a 'freepost' label to print out and attach. I've sent it back now, but judging from the Royal Mail web site, the cost of the postage for them is more than I paid for the oven.
