My oven uses 2.2 kw/ph my halogen uses 1.5 kw/ph
taking a chicken as an example my halogen cooks it in 1 hour my oven 1hr 40+20 mins heat up time so 2 hours total.
A kw cost approximately 15p
Oven 2.2 x 2 x 0.15 = 66p
Halogen 1.5 x 1 x 0.15 = 22.5p
over a year:
Oven 66p x 365 = £240.90
Halogen 22.5p x 365= £82.13
This is an example, I know you don't cook a chicken every day and don't use an oven every day of the year, but it seems a £120 saving isn't unreasonable.AKA: PC

Thanks Princess, that proves my point.I've have had a Halogen oven for nearly three months, and use it nearly everyday. It's already paid for itself with the amount of electricity I've saved0 -
I got this oven in January and tried to bake all sorts in it. Doesn't work for me. Chicken had lovely crisp skin, but wasn't cooked. Chips take at least 40 minutes just for the potato to cook. Everything burns round the edges. And the stench of chemicals, which i thought would go away, is horrible. I'm taking mine back.
I've wanted one of these for ages too.
But then I can't get anything edible out of my slow cooker either.
Next on my list of possible disappointments is a George Forman grill...:wall:0 -

So what constitutes your chips apart from potato, or are you saying that the oil in which they are coated is taking longer to cook?Chips take at least 40 minutes just for the potato to cook.
No such thing as kW per hour; it's like saying '30 mph per hour'. You could say it has used 2.2 kWh over a period of one hour, but how do you know? Is it, say, a 3kW oven but you've estimated that the thermostat is cut in for a quarter of the time?Princess_Coupon wrote: »My oven uses 2.2 kw/ph my halogen uses 1.5 kw/ph
:rotfl: Your oven has a serious leak!Princess_Coupon wrote: »+20 mins heat up time0
