Do you guys find seeing a counsellor helps?

I was going to query seeing one, but thought it would just be too awkward?!?

    Hi Dawnylou,

welcome to the thread, for me personally I am seeing a pyscologist (Counsellor) and she is great,She really listens what I have to say and then she will advise me,I find her very helpful as well. You may find though there is a long wait for a councellor dont really know how many weeks it is but hopefuly someone else will come on here and let you know :)

    Hope this helps

Oh, the counsellor question. Well, the first one I saw was totally useless and didn't help at all. But the second one I saw was an angel sent from heaven and helped me no end. I would give it a go and see what you think.

Thanks Katie, I feel like I am coming back to old friends, which is lovely. I have missed you all. Not just the support, but the friendly banter etc.

Do you never feel uncomfortable though? I imagine it would be really uncomfortable and we would both end up sat in silence! lol.

Although to be perfectly honest I don't even think I would bother with one personally. I think it would be better for me to focus with getting on wit my life rather than dwelling on the past.

I was lucky with this councellor(Physcologist) she is very nice but the first time I met her I didnt want to see her on my own, then my mind raced and went come on give her a chance shes here to help you,so I saw her on my own and have done each session that we have, the sessions are helping me,yes some can be tough which make me cry after shes been but some sessions are easy to deal with, depends on the topic talked about and you know something I am in control of the sessions not her and thats what we agreed on as the sessions are about me at the end of the day anyway. If there is a topic I dont want to chat about I dont have to and she wont push me or pressure me to do so.I can tell her when I feel ready to approach a subject.

    lots of love and light,

Yes I do feel uncomfortable at times talking about my past but then talking about the past helps me to concentrate on the future :)

Just had a thought have you got a friend who could just go with you for one of the meetings with the councellor to support you? Eventually my parents are coming to find out what we have talked about in one of my meetings :)

its not always about the past, for me it was about trying to change my thought and habit processes into one of the present moment and beyond
