    Just want o say ---
I've had an enlightening experience on another page, & was shocked to find that some msers could be so passionate in their beliefs as to almost ignore another's point of view. But on here, I think we all appreciate the way each person can look at the same post but read something else into it & offer advice from their own interpretation of that. And as others have said before me, that doesn't make anyone right or wrong; it helps us to explore a track we hadn't found for ourselves. So please keep an eye on the map for those obscure turnings for us OK?
    I agree bmf.
I think that what we have to remember on this thread is that sometimes peeps have different kinds of illnesses, not necessarily just depression, in different degrees.

Some of us are more sensitive and some are not as sensitive, but that doesn't mean they don't care.
As with any part of life, we're all part of one glorious Heinz 57 mix.;)
That's why it's important, imho, to bear in mind the kind of peeps that use this thread and to remember that we don't know anyone's history or their suffering first-hand. That's what makes this thread so special - we don't judge and we care. If only life were like this thread.:o

How are the Clan thus far on this glorious August morning? Personally, I've got a lamp on so I can see the keyboard--remind me  which season this is again? It's times like this I wish I had learned to touch type, to be more em.ess.eee & save e-lek-triz-it-tee! Yay I'm a wrapper.....make it from a black forest gateaux & that will be payment enough:p :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Don't you meant ''cat-chyas later''?:D ;)

FYI - here's a list of free online touch typing courses bmf - very :money:!
You can learn all sorts of things online for free.:j

I haven't used them myself so can't vouch for them though there was a bbc one aimed at children that I'd started to follow that was funny and easy enough for complete novices like me - there're the ones to go for. ;)

It may make it even more fun to do it as a party game when you've had a few!!!:D :rotfl:

    Hi tooties!:hello:
    How are you hun?

    quote=tooties;hello everyone,

today is the day i have to go and pick up my weekly supply of my anti- depressents and face the all so knowing staff in my local chemist.
Ok hun, I know what you mean so why not try having meds delivered as so many chemists offer that service now.
Change chemists if that helps you feel more at ease.;)

On the other hand angel, they can be as all-knowing as they want to be, but this is your life and your recovery and they should give you the same respect as anyone else!:A Tell them to Tiff-off if they give you an attitude problem hun.;) :D

Another point is how we use our body language sometimes in such situations, like slinking in and out as quickly as we can with our heads down.:o
Try drawing yourself up to your full height and looking them dead in the eyes when talking to them. Let them feel challenged or intimidated! ;)

Yesterday my GP phoned me as the psychiatrist at the day hospital had called her re the OD and change in my meds, although it was lovely of her to call and i appreciated her phoning me i couldnt be bothered with all the quiestions, why, how, etc.
It was nice of your gp to phone you, but maybe she could have asked you to come in for a 'chat', as we're very good at leaving things out over the phone.

No body seems to understand that i have simply had enough of trying to live with this awful illness and that i dont want to go on living if i am going to feel this awful everyday for the rest of my life.
    I hope I don't sound patronising when I say this angel :o ,
but this is a part of the illness talking. You've had a really tough time and you're still reeling from the shock of the action you took.:o

What's happening hun, is that they just haven't found the right solution for you yet - not that there isn't one. So it's not necessarily true that you'll suffer from this illness for the rest of your life angel. If it can't be cured, it can be managed to give you a life you can really enjoy. hug.gif

As with anything else that we deal with tooties, nothing stays the same every day. Please try and be a bit kinder to yourself sweetheart - you're still recovering.
It'll be no solace to you I know, but the professionals will keep working until the right answer is found for you. And wouldn't that be worth the wait angel, if it gave you hope and a future to look forward to?

i suppose you have to feel like this to fully understand how i feel at the moment.
I know angel. I understand that you're tired and in a lot of emotional pain and that sometimes you feel you've got nothing to look forward to except more fighting. But tooties - you are worth that fight!:T When things get too heavy to carry, take a break and rest. Let your resources build up and don't make any big decisions.

Imho, half the fight is accepting that you have this illness. But you don't know how long you're going to have it or feel at your worst. No-one can answer that hun. You can learn
how to manage your illness. Trying to battle it completely away is one way to make us even more poorly.:o

As with any other illness, there's the element of having to face the long-term practice of taking the meds. It can wear you down and get to the point sometimes where you don't think you could take another tablet.
If this is the case, change the order that you do things in the morning. It's a simple thing but can make a real difference.

today i am going to my best friend house for a natter and lunch so im looking forward to that.

Aha! Where did the doom and gloom go hun?!
I'm not being facetious here tooties, but you've just found something you're looking forward to!:T Savour these moments when they come angel because THAT's what you're fighting for.;)

can i ask a somewhat sensitive question to all you folks??
I havent washed my face or hair or changed my jeans and jumper in a week i just realised that today and i havent cleaned my teeth either!! disgusting i know but is this part of my depression or what?
    thanks in advance
    tooties/quote
Yes, possibly hun - it does seem to be a common symptom. It can be hard enough for people to get out of bed let alone do the whole personal hygiene thing.
So you have to be strict with yourself when you're at your lowest and make a plan listing all you need to do, e.g...

    EVERY DAY I WILL...
    1. Go and have a shower/bath.
    2. Brush my teeth.
    3. Put clean clothes on.
    4. Brush my hair.
    5. Put my other clothes in the laundry.
    6. Make my bed.
    7. Have my breakfast.

You can do the same for other daily tasks like have lunch, cook dinner, do the laundry etc.

It seems a long list but it gives you a routine to follow no matter how you feel. It seems to work because it's written down in black and white and you know it's there. Making your bed for example will make you hesitate to get back in it.
Every time you accomplish the steps on your list, you will feel better about yourself hun.:T All it takes is practice angel.;)
And yes, I know it's easier said than done.:o But having a plan is giving you back control and also a structure to your day. I hope this helps a little, tooties.
    Don't give up!hug.gif

Hi Tooties......I too go through periods where I don't 'take care of myself', & yes it is definately a repercussion of your dark mood. But hey--you have realised that your not taking care of yourself, so it's a good sign you're back on the up as it were.

It's when I actually have a shower as opposed to a quick lick & promise, that I realise what I've been missing & how much better a little effort can make you feel.

Someone once suggested to me, to keep a diary of the actual things I did each day:-
    • you get out of bed................................................:T
    • make yourself a drink............................................:T
    • actually watch 10mins of a tv programme.....................:T
    • do a puzzle........................................................:T
    • comb your hair....................................................:T
    • cuddle the kids/cat/etc.........................................:T
It is really surprising how much we do without noticing, that are very good indicators of our subconcious will to survive. The fact that you post on here is a tremendous achievment in itself, so just take a few minutes to see how well you are coping with the Big D, as opposed to how much it is trying to control you. HTH

    Hi bmf!
Sorry - just saw this and agree with you hun.
The more familiar we get with our daily plan, the better, as then we can add more things on bit by bit and that shows us in black and white how far we've progressed - even if we don't feel we have.;)
Cat cuddles are always a great idea - but please make sure the children are your own guys before you go cuddling them!:D ;)

I am kreem krackered! Been to a controlled garden type thingy--it's a municiple area with some cultivated areas & others are left to grow wild. It was a double, double whammy too, with free car park & entrance:D --just a donation box--hardly any traffic to contend with & only 15mins from home.:T
On the way home I took a detour, & we stopped at the beach for a stroll along the prom. Me muvva's only got wikkul wegs so she's lucky to have any left at all:rotfl: :rotfl:

Still waiting on the new modem, so will post as & if. Hope everyone has got some sun today.
