What to do - Mac Book Pro??

Just the whole set up . I have a job bringing up,all those things at the bottom. I d like to have them there all the time.
That's the problem with being given one by someone else. Dock auto-hide isn't a default setting, so most people would only have it turned on if they've explicitly turned it on. Click on the Apple symbol in the top left hand corner, then "System Preferences...", then "Dock", then untick "Automatically hide and show the Dock". While you're there, you might want to tick "Magnification" as that will make the dock icons larger when you go near them.I don't find downloading is easy.
What do you mean by "downloading"?0 -
Back to the original post. Personally I would take it in to the Apple store and see what they say.
It won't be cheap but it will be a "proper" repair.
Then be a bit more careful !0 -
buy and fit a new keyboard yourself, circa £30!!

What you are talking about is auto hiding the 'dock' and its quite easy to turn this feature off
Go to the magnifying glass in the top right and click on it (this is a search utility called 'spotlight')
Type the word dock in the bar and it will bring up lots of things but one of them is a 'system preference' called 'dock'. Click on it and the preferences are shown on screen.
Uncheck the 'Automatically hide and show the dock' option and it will be there all the time.
Thank you just done that
might make things a bit easier now lol 0 -

Have you got an Apple store near you?
They run group sessions for new users and will show you everything you need to get you going. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I have got a plug in keyboard but as i dont have a desk its a pain in the behind to use- so i just dont use it.
A metaphorical pain in the behind is a lot less painful and damaging and dangerous than the real pain in the shoulders and the back that comes from continually only using a laptop's keyboard.
I am continually shocked by the number of all-day users who do not use either an external monitor or an external keyboard.0
