BT landline minimum period

Does anyone know if there is a minimum contract term for BT landline option 1 (cheapest one). I need to have a bt line to move to talktalk for free international calls but talktalk told me I will have to move the line rental to them. Many thanks. (btw I am trying to contact bt but seem to be in a queue forever, hence…

The one big difference between old '12 month' contracts (pre May 2007) and the 'new' ones are the cancellation terms.

The old contracts can still be cancelled for a maximum payment of £18.

The new contracts are the lesser of £70 or the outstanding line rental for the contract.
