re: opinion of talktalk.net

Hi - thinking of changing to talktalk.net for phone and broadband connection, cost is £20.49 per month, anyone using this? opinions good or bad - or is there a better package out there? Need reliable service but cheap aswell! Currently got BT line and Tiscali connection but think this is expensive. Any advise appreciated!

    I have a couple of mates who have phone + BB from talktalk and they are quite happy with it.

    We're using the phone and broadband package from TalkTalk. Due to our exchange not have talktalk equipment in, our current bills are £26 for the phone bill each month and £10 for the broadband. Which I do not think this is too bad?

    The Talktalk service is good in my opinion. I do know of other customers that have not had it so easy, but whenever I have had a problem they have sorted it out promptly and have always be pleasant.

    If talktalk has their own equipment in your exchange - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/phoneno.php - expect problems. Our service with talktalk was "adequate" before our exchange was unbundled but now broadband unreliable, lost phone service twice in 3 months, the second time for three days, caller id doesn't work, 1471/1571 number not recognised unless you dial twice, customer service deplorable, web mail doesn't work, can't change any services such as caller id or withholding number online as profile stuck for the last 2 months. Maybe worth looking at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ and the talktalk forum and see if anyone is on the same exchange as you and if there are any problems - some people seem happy so it can't all be bad.
    Last thing worth noting is speed drops to about 400kbps each evening from about 1900 til 2300ish, at other times I get about 4500kbps, just a normal user no torrents, p2p or big downloads.
