Tax disc doesn't stick to windscreen

Hi everyone,

My tax disc doesn't stick to the windscreen, or only for a second before falling. Any trick to make it stick? Or perhaps to display it in conformity with the law without it having to stick to windscreen?

Also, because it was at the bottom of the windscreen for some time it is now like any paper that has been wet. Surprisingly, the transparent plastic is opened by design in two locations on the side touching the windcreen. It's so stupid because the humidity will inevitably affect the paper thus exposed ! Anyone had this problem too?

    Spit on it.
    Sellotape.
    Buy a better one.
  • The physical discs are being abolished this year so its not going to be a long term issue.

Given the disc lasts a maximum of 12 months the fact that disc holders are open at one or more sides and close to the glass really isnt going to cause any problems. Never seen any rot within those sorts of timescales.

Most the time with glass stickers you just make them wet to get them to stick back. If yours has gotten too wrinkled as it looks like it might of you can find free ones all over the place or buy a new one for under £1

There is no legal requirement for a holder, just that it is visible, so if you wanted to sellotape it or such it is equally fine.

Because the obvious answer is to buy a new holder ?
You shouldn't have humidity in your car ?

you need the magic of static electricity to make that one stick

Rub it with fluffy cloth and it might stick again.

Few things are more subjective than the notion of "obvious". For some, the obvious answer would be to tape it on the car dashboard at the bottom of the windscreen, because it solves the problem for free.

There are different solutions to almost any problem so it's silly to pretend that this or that particular answer is the "obvious" one.

I went for this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Magnetic%20Tax%20Disc%20Holder and I still don't see it as obvious...
  • What a ridiculous thread.

    What's next?

I'd save the 99p and just use one of these to attach it to the windscreen
