    Hi

Thanks for the words of encouragement Sassychick. As you can see I haven't been on for ages - work has been tricky to say the least.

However in non moneysaving world I have passed all my exams for the masters and now only have to do the proposal and project. Woo hoo!!! Last results have come through and pushed me over the line really nicely so I am dead chuffed.... It was exactly the good news I needed with the way work was this week.

I have got the money together to pay off the Halifax card where the 0% rate is finished on the 16.6.15 so that will mean I only owe my parents which I am chuffed about. I intend to get this paid off by Christmas this year and then the outstanding debt is the mortgage. That is going to be the next one to get a kicking!!!!! Can't wait.

Anyway I shall sign off for now and hope you are all well.

So how is everyone doing? Forgive my not being on here for ages but work has been chronic and have been away for a few days to see relatives in the south west. Beautiful weather there but what the hell is happening today? The fire is ON!!!!! So how is paying off my debt going?

[STRIKE]This Terms Fees £1,888 - this will be the end of anything owed to university
Halifax Credit Card £1,866 - 0% is due to end middle of June 2015 [/STRIKE]
    Parents £5000

Ok so the credit card is now gone too!!! WOO HOO!!!!! 73% of the total cleared for 2015 and looks like I am on target to pay back the folks.

And there is already £71.33 in the account towards the money I owe the folks - thats a grand total of 1.43% of the £5000 ... Looks like I still have a lot of hard work to do. However, I am now putting the money I was paying off the 0% credit card monthly towards the money to pay off the folks so I'm planning to give it back to them at Christmas. Have asked whether they want it in euros or sterling but still waiting for the answer. The problem is that it is expensive in Southern Ireland to bank so it will probably be easier if I give it to them in Euros to use as and when they need it.

Enough of the ramblings - I'll sign off for now and hope to be more active in the next few weeks.

    Yes I am still alive.

The outstanding debt is to my parents and it is £5000. I have already got £915.71 / £5000 towards the debt. This is 18% paid off so far. Woo hoo!!! :T:T

I am trying really hard to keep my spending on track and to ensure that I can make my plan of getting all the money together to pay my lovely sweet parents off my the end of December. Dave Ramsey is my absolute must listen to every day at the moment. He is absolutely making me want to clear the mortgage off too which will be next on the list of debts to get rid of. Hopefully the last.

My exams are all complete now but I have a deadline of the beginning of September to get my project proposal in. How many words have I written yet? Eh none so really need to pull my finger out. :o

Well goodnight all and hope you all have a cracking week ahead.

So how is everyone doing? All is good here with lovely sunny weather.

Have gone back to taking out the money I need from my account for the month ahead to keep my spending in check. And yes I am totally obsessed with Dave Ramsey and his principles. I do still use a credit card so not following them fully and I don't have the emergency fund together yet which is the first step so not a total devotee.....

However, with listening to his three hour podcasts, my beloved husband has had to listen to him too. As a result he is now on board to try and get the mortgage paid off early. He retires at the end of the year so when the mortgage penalties no longer exist in April 2017 he has agreed that we can make an effort to pay it down using some of his lump sum which I am going to try and match with intensive saving over the 16 months from Christmas. Think we might have another year of payments to make then.

I'm hoping it will all be paid off 5 years earlier than I had hoped. I'd set my target as when I go to 50 but looking so much earlier now. This will hopefully be the year my daughter and step grand daughter should start university so we will be in a position to help them out with shopping...

As my mother has said though in the past I might as well dream here as my bed. I am SO impatient though and plan to look at a range of ways of paying it down asap but as I say the earliest we can pay a significant amount off it is when the penalty period is gone./ April 2017 - not that I am counting :rotfl:

Anyway I will sign off for now. TTFN xxx

    Good afternoon all

How are we today? Not sure what the weather is like where you are but it is shocking here. Wet and miserable? What month is it again????

Went to the shops this morning as realised that we had many occasions that needed cards which I thought I didn't have so went off so went off and bought them - cheap and cheerful. Anyway came back and have now put all of my cards into an expanding file and realised that actually I have loads. Not many male birthday ones but loads of everything else. NEED TO STOP SPENDING.....

Went into the Works to buy some bits for friends daughter in South Africa and should have been £3 - had a book in the present drawer that was going to send too but when I went to pay I had a £2.50 voucher so only cost 50p. Woo hoo. Savings will go towards cost of postage.
Used boots points for other purchases and only spent a little bit extra so over all a relatively cheap day out. Just how I like it.

Anyway will update my signature in a bit as was pay day on Friday so more paid towards the fund for paying off the folks by Christmas so coming along nicely - just not quick enough for me.....

    Have a great Sunday y'all.

    Hi

So how has Monday been? Just watched the panorama programme about the YMCA in Stoke and I'm just watching the Where will I sleep tonight programme from a few nights ago. You know it is at times like this that you realise how much you do have... These are kids - youngsters under the age of 25 who have nothing - sleeping under bridges. Really hard to watch but still compelling viewing.

I think it is such a fine line from where we are to where they are - as it is said "There but for the grace of God"

    Be safe all.

    Hello all

Well it would appear that all I am capable of doing is to update this diary on a monthly basis. I am having great difficulties with my computer and am running a full scan and malwarebytes as we speak. Its driving me mad. Everytime I have logged onto the internet, its either gone slow or froze. Very annoying so I had given up. Anyway read hubby's which magazine and came up with some great options to sort it and it looks as if it is working so far.....

So the car failed its MOT and would have cost £150 to put right but there were lots of advisory notes as well. It was going to cost a reasonable amount of money and it is after all 16 years old. Anyway one of my neighbours was selling their car - 12 years old Toyota Yaris but with under 20000 miles on the clock - yes an elderly couple owned it - so I bought it for £1000. Been regularly serviced and nothing wrong with it. As Dave Ramsey would call it "it's a proper beater" and is likely to do me for another 4 - 5 years. This will get me through to paying off the mortgage. Also sold my car for £175 on gumtree. Well impressed. Hubby gave me money from his account to pay for the car and I have already given him the £175 from the sale of my car. The end of the month a fixed term bond matures so he will get more money then as well as over paying the mortgage a bit.

Have put money in my savings for the month and updated my figures. Hoping to get some more cashback by the end of the month to pay into the emergency fund as concerned that this hasn't been growing by enough. Will have paid back the money owed to hubby by Christmas as well as paying the folks and then the run will be on to pay off the mortgage.

The rugrat is off to visit her grandparents tomorrow - first trip by plane my herself - she's 16 next month. Currently like a bottle of pop and don't expect her to sleep tonight.

Anyway I shall sign off for now.

Hope you are all keeping well and I will comment on your diaries soon but can see how you are doing.

Keep going - we can do this.

  • Hey hon

How is your computer? All good I hope?

Did your daughter enjoy her trip? Did you cope!? lol I would have been a bag of nerves from the moment Littley set off until I had her back in a cuddle again.

Great news about the new car & even better that you sold the other one too. It all adds up doesn't it.

    Take care :)xx

    Hello lovely lady

Yes the computer is now grand - had it fixed by an expert and although cost money so much better now. The rugrat had great fun with my folks although she did end up delayed at the airport which caused her to have a mild panic.

I have paid off the folks at Christmas so that is one more debt off the list....:j

Last thing to go now is the mortgage.... Roll on May 2017
