Switching from O2 to O2

2 years ago I got my O2 contract phone from Tesco, now I want a new phone on a new contract from mobiles.co.uk, still on O2, is it going to be easy enough to keep my number? Do I just ask for a pac code and then give it to them not saying where its from, or tell them its going to them when I ask for the pac code?

If the offer you are taking is only available to new customers you could port to a PAYG SIM (say on "3") then port again to o2.


Sometimes you have to spend a minimum time on the network.


Also remember that when you port service ends but you still pay for 30 days so the best thing to do is to port about 25 days in and on a mid week day.

My tariff ends on March 29th, so I can port next week then?

Take out a new contract with O2 through whatever retailer you want. Once your contract is up and running, phone up O2 customer service and tell them that you wish to terminate your previous contract and and transfer your old number to the new contract.


I got my new phone/O2 contract earlier this week (via mobiles.co.uk for cashback and don't forget topcashback etc) and phoned O2 this morning to arrange for the transfer, my old SIM disconnected a few hours after the call, and my new SIM now has my old number.

I was told a final bill for my old contract will be generated within 14 days and that I may have to pay an early termination fee (obviously depends on what contract exactly you're on and what your notice period is etc).

All in all a very pleasant experience.
