I got this too. Irks me a tad, as only a month ago they deducted a full year's prepayment, which I understood was to FIX prices, at least for line rental and possibly also for broadband, for one year in advance.
And NOW they tell me they want to put the price of both up?
I've taken a chill pill after doing the sums and realising that, including the prices rises plus all landline calls I make, the new package will still come out cheaper than the cheapest broadband bundles, even BEFORE call charges, currently featured on MSE.
Still, it's the principle of the thing. It's like a bait-and-switch tactic. It also blatantly exploits customer passivity. Confirms me in my long-standing loathing of direct debits, even when huge savings are involved. I have never - literally never - had a hassle-free direct debit with any service provider. I used to laugh - oh, how harshly and bitterly! - at those ads that trumpeted how much easier your life would become thanks to good old DD.
So I think I'll call Primus and try to haggle my way of the price rises anyway, at least for rental.
But I'm a bit puzzled - and sceptical. Is Primus/New Call at the new prices REALLY the cheapest bundle on the market at the mo?0
