Panasonic VCR

Options
My 4 monthe old VCR/DVD player switches itself on every morning at 3am, then switches itself off after half an hour. I have no idea why. Other than this it is working perfectly.
It is not recording and there is nothing programmed into it.
Anyone any ideas?

Is there a setting in the menus to automatically check for firmware updates or channel updates every day?

    What model number is it?

What does it actually do at this time? Power up, then power down? Or something else?

Are you certain there isn't a recurring programme recording set? Press Prog/Check on the remote - anything showing up there?

Nothing in menus and there are no recurring programmes set.
I have never used it at 3 in the morning.
It just powers up at 3, then powers down at 3.30.
    The model is DMR EZ49V.

Tell us what you have it connected to, and how it's connected.

It's almost certainly looking for over the air updates.
3am seems to be the time most devices and TVs do this by default.

ETA: Oh. Your last post suggests it's not connected to the TV aerial. Is that correct?

    Emptybox,
Yes, a new aerial was fitted at the time.
The TV & player is in my bedroom which is why it is so noticeable.
I have checked page 68 & the info is about Audio Cables, can't see anything about it switching itself on & off.
You may be right about the 3am update though - my autoset alarm clock also adjusts itself at 3am.

Does the TV have the VIERA link feature? If so, it may be telling the VCR to wake up

Yes it does have the VIERA feature, not something I have ever paid attention to I'm afraid.
