Hi,
I lost my job a while ago, was just wanting to switch to the amex with out an annual fee as I doubt I'll be spending over 2k a year on it.
However I don,t qualify to apply for the non fee card as I don't have a job.
Shoud I tell them I dont have a job?
I probably will average over 20k over the year what are the consequences if I just use the details of my old job?

Are you asking if you should falsify your employment status and commit fraud?
Or did I misunderstand?0 -
If you'd like to know the consequences of committing fraud, they are easy to Google.
Declaring that you have a job, when you don't in order to gain credit is fraud.
Fraud is a criminal offence.
It's not worth it."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
CC companies are likely to check out your details, particularly your current job details and bank a\c details.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

You know what I was asking two different questions.
Main question I want to know is if I apply for a new card declare that I'm self employed will they take away my existing card? Should I declare for my existing card that Im self employed?0 -

Sorry I thought you asked if on a new application could you use your old job details if you "average it out" and what the consequences would be.
You don't need to declare anything to your current card, unless it's part of the t&c's your employment changing must be declared.
You can't declare lawfully to anyone for financial purposes you are self employed as that would be fraud.
I would not advise you do this, as after all the self cert credit. Finance houses are strict on checking out self employment declarations.
Then them taking the card off of you will be the least of your issues.0 -

Its annoying as that will take over a year, I just want to switch to a very similar card and have given them over 100k of business over the years.0 -
No you should not declare yourself as self-employed if you are not.
This is fraud and has very serious implications, like going to prison.0 -

Why do people keep jumping to conclusions. OK I worded my question badly, but my job is still the same but I'm working freelance rather than as a permie.0 -

It was probably the statements like
"I lost my job a while ago"
"Shoud I tell them I dont have a job"
"what are the consequences if I just use the details of my old job"
Which confused everyone and made them think that you had lost your job and were going to lie to the CC company about it...0
