Your dad only sent the ESA forms back on the 27th February so they probably haven't processed it yet. Why not give them a call and see what is happening and when he will be paid? It should be back dated to the date his JSA stopped.
What is your situation? Are you working?
Nothing else your dad can apply for as an out of work benefit.
Have you and he looked to see if he would be eligible for PIP?(Personal Independence Payment)0 -
OP, do you not have any income?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
That's my thought, if it takes this long just to hear from them after applying it's going to take just as long before they want to see him, then longer when we tell them he can't make it and they'll have to come out to us. Then they'll need to make their decision. All that time with no income
I am but only part time, and haven't been in for 4 weeks since I've been looking after Dad so been on sick pay but lost 3 days pay. Hoping to go back next week. I would give him all of my earnings if I could but I have my own car insurance to pay, petrol etc and this month of all month it's MOT was due and tax at the end of this month so not a lot left and I give him money towards rent anyway.
I have looked in to PIP and tried to explain it to him but he doesn't think he'll be eligible. He thinks the same about this ESA too because when he went for a medical for his JSA he's out of breath like you wouldn't believe and puffing on his inhaler but because he made it from the door to the chair he is 'fit for work' Best Wins:

You WILL have an income during that time. They pay what's called the assessment rate until all the decision making process has been through. This should start fairly soon.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Oh I see we didn't know that! Just Googled it and it's £71.70 a week for the first 13 weeks.
We're hoping he'll be better by then but I suppose we'd have to cancel this claim and go back on JSA:dance: Best Wins:

You say you have been off work for 4 weeks, did the doctor give you a fit (sick) note, because technically
you haven't been sick.
Priorites are the roof over your head and food in your belly, not your car, sorry to be blunt but its
a fact.
Look at the criteria for PIP, don't apply, don't get.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I was sick and got a sick note I had a chest infection which my Dad caught

I don't think it's a good idea to cancel car insurance, not pay tax and declare it off road for a few weeks just to save a bit of money, and I know my Dad would agree. If I didn't have my car I wouldn't have been able to get to the hospital to visit him everyday. I wouldn't have been able to follow behind the ambulance at 1am when they took him in and sat with him for 6 hours knowing I could leave and come back and not have to rely on the bus which costs god knows how much and takes about 2 hours to get there where the car takes me 20mins lol
It's not me that needs to apply for it, I've explained it to him but if he doesn't want to I can't force him, but I'll bring it up again and see what he wants to do:dance: Best Wins:

Even if you declare a car off road it has to be insured.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Sorry, my mistake. The law changed a couple of years ago and my sister got a fine for not insuring a car she wasn't using on the road. I thought she'd SORNed it but obviously not. Sorry for giving the wrong info.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
