DH has just gone out the door to sit and wait at the Phlebotomy clinic for his Warfarin blood test.

The doors open at 8.30 but the queue seems to start at dawn as the Warf tests are done on strict days/times but first come, first served. Last time he was 5 minutes late and was turned away, then had the snotty letter for "missing" a test: he was late as he had spend half an hour trying to find a parking space. The Uni is right bedside the hospital, and the students fill the free car park.
Those letters are very probably computer-generated, and just the fact that he didn't have his test on the appointed day, regardless of why, will have triggered the computer to churn out the letter. And of course, they don't get picked over by a human to see if it's actually appropriate to send it, they just get bunged in the post regardless.:(

*Thinks for a moment* - I just realised, when I was on Sulfasalazine, some years back, they said I was meant to have a blood test every month; I never did, and no-one ever chased me up over it.

Judi you must have the patience of a saint! As for the crack about the washing up - if Mr LW ever said anything like that, he'd be wearing the largest saucepan - unwashed - on his head!

Actually, bless him, once we've eaten, he generally trots out to the kitchen unprompted and washes up.:A

Well I didn't mind the cooking, or the clearing up but the confusion I could have done without.

Professional head on for a moment, LW that is absolutely appalling patient care by whoever was supposedly looking after you

Sulfasalazine requires blood tests every 2 weeks because it can cause haemolytic anaemia, and due to folic acid depletion also, macrocytosis and pancytopenia. You should have also have renal function tests monthly.

    Evening all,

We've been out looking at cars, have one in mind hope we can get it within our price range.
I've got some exciting news, hubby and I are off to Australia in November to see our dgd she will be just over a year old. Can't wait, I need to get on and lose some weight, hopefully my leg will be a lot better by then. Will be staying with my wonderful brother.
No tea to cook as we had a big meal at lunchtime so just a sandwich later.
My DD is a wonderful cook and housekeeper as are my older two boys, it must have rubbed off. Not so much the youngest but he's only 17 so there is time.
    Have a good evening x

Has been beautiful here all day, we had a hailstorm at 4.30pm and it has gone rather nippy now, so fire is lit.

Not having a good day, phoned hospital to see what they are doing about the referral to a spinal specialist and it turns out the physiotherapist hasn't written the letter animated-smileys-angry-061.gifSo that is another four blurdy weeks wasted animated-smileys-angry-061.gif. My consultant's secretary was really apologetic and said she understood my frustration ..............(NO SHE REALLY DOESN'T!) and that her hands are tied until the letter is written and it will have to be passed back to the GP for him to refer me, but she also said that she would have a word with the consultant and physiotherapist. She said that I should be near the top of the list for my op but I have to get in touch with the waiting list office, so that is another phone call for tomorrow:mad:. I then phoned physio and can't get an appointment until April but I have to phone in early March to book an appointment, I asked for my physio to ring me and guess what, I waited in all afternoon and no phone call, my blood pressure is at steaming point, what with all this and being told by knee consultant that I probably will not get my knees done until I am well into my sixties despite being in agony:mad:
I really have had enough now!

And breathe......... you can all come out from behind the sofa now. Sorry I just needed to vent a bit :(
