DLA Form Posted

HI everybody posted DLA form yesterday by special delivery for my son to the Blackpool office checked by putting the bare code off the receipt on the post office site and it said it was received today. But some people have said here that they receive a text message from DLA I did put my mobile number down or is it to early for them to send a text yet.

Also sent with the form prescription list a list of 12 NHS professionals who my son is seen by 4 letters I mean the letter that the consultant sends to the GP after a out-patent appointment and parents receive a copy as well and literature about my sons condition. Will they contact all of the professionals and what about the school.

Thank you

  • I got a letter informing me they got my sons on the 23rd jan. Said not to contact them unless heard nothing for 8 weeks. They will contact who they feel they need too tbh and that can't be predicted. Try not to stress about it but I know that's not easy. Let us know what happens

In general, all DWP post goes to 'opening centres' - where it's processed then sent on to the DWP.
It is not unusual for this to take over a week before it is seen by the DWP.
  • Thank you will keep you informed.
  • Also just a bit worried about them contacting the school as have heard from other people that the school make the claim go all pear-shape.

Had a text today to say my son has been awarded dla. Hoping letter comes quick so I can see what he has been awarded.

  • When I first applied for DLA I had a reply just within their time guide lines... it just said effectively 'No'; which we knew was crazy.

So we asked the DWP how to lodge an appeal and the same day started to get all our ducks in a row, from the local MP to the GP's and two different specialists... but two days after the 1st letter when nothing had happened or changed, another letter arrived saying "Higher rate DLA - lifetime" arrived!! What?

LOL we were so confused we had to ring the DWP and ask "Does this mean we have it or not?"

Since then my view of the DWP has been somewhat insouciant... they do what they do at the speed they move and you're simply not going to change that.

Today I have had my DLA lifetime renewal letter for the year. Yes there is some gumpf in it about PIP and 2015, but I strangely doubt I'll be on PIP for many a long year.

So, lay back in your wheelchair and think happy thoughts is my advice, it's not worth getting an ulcer as well.
I am not offering advice, at most I describe what I've experienced. My advice is always the same; Talk to a professional face to face.

Debt - None of any type: Bank or any other accounts? - None: Anything in my name? No. Am I being buried in my wife's name... probably

The OP sent for the DLA, for her son, not herself.

DLA awards, and yearly letters are 'indefinite awards', not lifetime awards.

Yes, it is, and unless it's changed, you need form BR440 (DLA unit need to be contacted, as they send the form)

There are conditions attached, so have a look first.

If your son is over 3, high rate mobility should also entitle him to a Blue Badge, and your local council will deal with that.
