The first hard disk drive which was available with the IBM PC XT had a capacity of 10 MB.
I had one that was 5mb, full height 5.25" with a black front and a green LED. MFM that needed 2 ribbon cables.
I had one, I traveled 40+ miles to get it. and put it in by taking out one of my floppy drives. That was an excellent day
I still have an ST225 25mb MFM 5.25" half height HDD somewhere down in the cellar - one day I'll give it to a museum.
Now I don't travel at all - I sit here and order it and I order drives that could store more data than I would have ever imagined.
Your right about technology though - it has come one leaps and bounds, my kids will never know how little we once had.0
