Has anyone used direct mobiles to buy a phone?

  • Hi Cat,

I am considering buying a new phone from directmobiles.co.uk and am interested in that report back you mentioned.

I'm dithering over using this firm as I can't find much what I would call 'independent' information out about them. I'm sure your report would be helpful not just to me but to other members of the forum looking at this company too.

Thanks in advance and hope you're enjoying your new iphone.

    Hi Pooley

I've been without t'inteweb access for a while but I've had the phone now for a few months. The long and the short of it, I'd happily use the company again.

Anyone have any experience of the above company. I'm looking to pre-order the iPhone 6 (i know!!!) and this company seems to be offering the best deal that suits me.
They seem to get a fairly good rating on trusted pilot but not sure how reliable these reviews are. Other than that I can't seem to find out much information.
    Thanks
Massive thanks to all who contribute on the MSE forums, especially on grabbit and competition boards

  • I have used them, and would use them again.
I was a bit (ok very) cynical about using them as all the reviews i read seemed too good to be true, which actually makes me distrust them (the reviews not the company). There was e few complications with one of the two phones i ordered which was all sorted quickly enough, and to be fair i'm not really sure wether it was their fault or a fault of EE's, they kept in touch with us rang back when thet said they would and were generally very helpful and effecient, my only slight complaint was that they told us the delivery would be 48hrs despite their website saying 24hrs, but guess what they turned up the very next day! and we had'nt ordered until 4.30pm, and although this is ggod service it was only by chance we were in when thay arrived as we was'nt expecting them till the next day. I did actually mean to leave a review on trust pilot myself as they were very helpful when we spoke on the phone and not overly pushy (apart from trying to sell us their own phone insurance) and despite all my cynacism they were very good.
P.S. Putting this on here makes me feel a bit better about not leaving a review on trustpilot for them, as it's the only way people can find out about good (or bad) companies really.

I ordered a phone on saturday, no email confirming the order was succesfull, made two phonecalls and all they say its being processed and I will get a call back... still waiting.

Next day delivery is not true
  • I've done a search for this and No-one else seems to have noticed this so maybe I've done something wrong?

I want to take advantage of the "MSE-blagged" offer from directmobiles for an iPhone 6s, 4GB data etc. I'd like the 64GB phone, which is supposed to cost £34.99/month with a £100 upfront cost (with code), "blagged down from £148".

I can't find this deal on directmobiles' website. The link from MSE only goes to the 16GB offer. When I search deals for the 64GB phone, the upfront cost on this tariff is £172 (not £148).

When I enter the code MSE6s64 it says the voucher is invalid - but the code was supposed to be good until 26 November. Does anyone know if something has changed?

Sorry, as a new user I can't post a link to the deal - but it's the only one costing £34.99/month for 4GB data and a 64GB phone.

    Thanks!
  • You need to use this link:

    http://www.directmobiles.co.uk/apple/iphone-6s-64gb-ee-4g-pd-814.php

Hit "buy now" then enter the code MSE6S64 and £48 should be discounted from the phone cost.

Although if you don't mind using the O2 network HUDK are offering a similar deal for £75 upfront and just £31 a month via Moblies.co.uk, that's a total saving of well over £100 compared to this "best" deal.

http://www.directmobiles.co.uk/ have some really good deals on their site and awesome reviews on Trust Pilot but is this too good to be true? Does anyone have any experience of buying a mobile phone from them?

Has anybody used the above website? I'm looking to buy the Samsung Galaxy S9 handset-only. I've been researching the cheapest options and came across DirectMobiles.co.uk. They are advertising it at £640, which is £100 cheaper than everyone else. They have very good reviews on Trust Pilot with over 2000 reviews, but it just seems a little suspect. I also used scamadvisor.com and they gave it a 98% safety rarting. It appears they are based in the UK and their servers are not connected to any other dodgey sites. They claim that all their handsets are shipped from within the UK and come with full 2 year manufacturer warranty.

A lot of reviews refer to contracts they offer. I imagine in a contract situation the contract and handset are provided by the carrier i.e Vodafone etc. I am curious about any previous experience people may have had buying a SIM free device from them?

    Help appreciated.
