I thought cash back was introduced so the store has less paper money on site?
So less stealing / loosing paper money. Electronic money is easier to handle?0 -
When I was last at Marks and Sparks we were told not to ask people if they wanted cashback, just to give it if asked (obviously :P)0

............sounds a bit like M & S Simply Food staff in motorway service areas being told not to do cash back any more.
Why ? Because Moto had brought in ATMs which charged !!0 -

Not the issue here, more reminding staff not to overlook it whilst doing the process by rote...0 -

Again another reason why I rather drive 5-10 mins off a motorway and get things cheaper! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Tescos stopped doing it ages ago.
when i worked there years ago, we were told not to ask customers about cashback and was up to them to ask for it.
Too many customers were complaining and getting annoyed at being asked all the time.
Plus alot of errors were being made with cashback causing more work in the cash office to solve it0 -
Asda appears to still give cashback if it's requested - so... what's the problem?
If MacDonalds didn't offer 'would you like fries with that' then would you go without fries because you weren't asked? Would you forget to order fries? I don't think so.:hello:0 -

IF you went to McDonalds and ordered a Big Mac, they'd try to upsell by asking if you want the meal.
I suspect if they didn't ask this, then yes a lot of people who did want the value meal would actually get just the Big Mac burger without fries.0 -

Hows this an issue? If you want cashback, ask for it. Failing that, goto a cash machine.0
