Recommission old oil boiler?

Seems odd to go for a new oil boiler when there are so many renewable alternatives which are a much more cost effective solution.
Amazed people are still installing lpg or oil with rhi being so generous and fuel being significantly cheaper."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

Per kw oil is significantly cheaper than electricity and wood pellets. http://www.nottenergy.com/energy_cost_comparison0 -

Even if that was true, pellet prices go up on average 0.5% a year, fossil fuel prices significantly more so the viability of pellets increases with fuel saving being greater and greater every year"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

Do people really want to spend their evenings shovelling wood pellets? I've got better things to do with my time... Oil is very low maintenance!Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.
Enjoying sending hundreds of pounds a month to savings rather than debt repayment!0 -

I've certainly read posts from people on here moaning about what a pain biomass is although I admit I've never researched it personally. I've no need as oil is the perfect solution for my home
Edit: I assume this is what you are referring to? Definitely sounds like a right royal PITA to maintain to me...Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.

Again another person on here with no knowledge of the industry cherry picking examples to justify their bigoted opinion.
This is the Mcz range of boilers and boilers similar which are marketed to people with limited space in most circumstances where they would be better off with an air source heat pump as this particular range of products is only really suitable for small houses.
This means this range of products is not fed by large external hoppers so needs to be manually fed, also this thread is regarding bad installations not a bad product which has caused the faults mentioned.
So the example you have picked is one where it is not really applicable, as most people would go into this choosing a manual feed option over a more suitable alternative.
Most biomass boiler are fed using multiple ton hoppers, about the size of the lpg or oil tank they are replacing and only need deliveries a couple of times a year just like what they are replacing."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
