Question is will she be made bankrupt by the HMRC before she dies.
I hope her relatives aren't expecting a windfall either.0 -

Laugh or cry?
Told at 5.30 today the client was using someone else "who does not charge a fee."
Commission £137.70. Broker fee £249. My share £174.01 with an 80 mile round trip to do the case. My old Saab does about 28 to the gallon, so the fuel cost alone is £16.62.
I'm now going to Bromsgrove on Saturday for a single shared ownership case worth £177 to me and that case is now the only reason for that £17 fuel cost.
£160. Sometimes I wonder why we bother...I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. A better week than last. A speedy offer on a complicated case from Nationwide and nearly there with a Precise case. A bit of backwards and forwards, they do like to be thorough, but I never have had much of a problem with them.
What is it with mortgage brokers and old Saab's ? I've know quite a few over the years. My own is a 1994 900 convertible, The 2.3 though so economy is not to the fore !0 -

To be fair, my Dad was an investment specialist and he had a 900 GLi back in 1985. What's now known as GM-free, or "Classic."

Just wondering... why make the trip to actually see them? Sure it's nice to meet people you do business with, but it's not just the cost of the journey, it's also the time it takes to make the journey.
Reason for asking is that my MB came to see me at my workplace, (was quite a long trip for him), which in the end resulted in us having a chat and me signing some paperwork, but nothing that couldn't have been done via phone/email/scan to save him from making the trip.0 -
We deal with a possibly unusual combination of local and national business.
There is no doubt that many clients like to meet (but we also have some very local clients who we have never seen) but we decided to stop all home/office visits because of the issues you refer to. We make a comfortable lounge environment with sourcing systems etc displayed on large wall mounted monitor available at the office for this purpose and offer early evening appointments and weekend appointments before 1300 start in addition to normal office hours BUT they come to us (I don't think we have a lost a client as a result of this policy).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
