I absolutely adore doing the same job two or three times. Nothing better to do with my time today.

Does the recent move by HSBC to distribute via Intermediaries, plus the Barclays plan to increase their broker throughput at the expense of their direct arm prove that MMR is killing the direct channels?
Thoughts please?I am a Mortgage Broker

Certainly hope so
HSBC are going to have to do quite a bit of grovelling to get brokers on side now though, after years of sticking two fingers up to us.I am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I would suggest wider commercial issues. Closure of existing branch network and automation spring to mind. Subcontracting out the "selling" and sales administration of mortgages is an extremely cost effective option as well. The lenders only have to pay for business placed.
Volumes are never going to return to pre 2007 levels. As over time the interest rates on offer will undoubtedly merge closer together. Once the artificial stimuli are removed (i.e. funding for lending scheme).
MMR is here to stay. Only the thin end of a far wider wedge.0 -
