Hi Danny, you're doing a brilliant job on the OPs, you've really reduced that mortgage quickly.

If it makes you feel better I'm in the same boat - self-employed and don't have a problem taking on (often too much) work but find I fritter money away, especially when I feel like I deserve it for working so hard!

    Keep up the great work

Thanks SR, it does make me feel a bit better that its not just me! Maybe its something to do with a lack of time to plan spending because of working the hours, then on top of that I have my son 3 nights every week straight after work plus every other weekend Friday night - Monday morning, so finding the time to actually sit down and take stock is nigh on impossible!

LIL, it does feel pretty good to be half way, but it still feel like a long way off the end given its taken me 8 years to get this far!

I've decided to make a list of things I need to do this month so as to be much more organised for the final 3rd of the year!

From September, my big aim is to keep well within the £45 a week allowance I've set myself, so if I can get the rest of my house in order this month it'll be a bit of a kickstart! Or so the plan goes!:money:

    • Cancel Sky Again (cancelled once, then given it for free for 6 months, now that's ran out and I'm being charged again)
    • Put loan repayment from my Dad in the bank that he payed in cash (Lent mum and dad some money so they didn't need to pay interest from the bank. Fully payed back now)
    • Open a 12 month fixed bond (possibly the RCI one) and put money for Mum and Dads 60ths in it to get a bit of interest from it for myself!
    • Look at putting an extra £20 a month into Zopa (currently £50 a month) or even putting the £20 into a new P2P lender - Does anybody else use any that they would recommend?
    • Do a new SOA near the end of August to make sure there is no other savings to be made anywhere - and that my current outgoings are still viable (Energy DD has gone up a bit, as have a few other bills)

That's pretty much it, nothing too taxing!

August is such a busy month, Camping next weekend, Working on my garden the following weekend, Dublin the weekend after that, Then the bank holiday weekend there's a 65th birthday party on the Friday (which is also my birthday), and will be celebrating mine on the Saturday by probably getting very, very drunk!
Loads of work on aswell during the weeks so I'll be mostly a walking zombie! September weekends are looking like I'll probably be mostly working too and that may well carry on until at least Christmas..... Must remember - Just keep thinking about the money...:D

    Have a great week everyone!

Hello! Just wanted to pop in and say what a fantastic job you are doing! I love the Mortgage free 2015 board, helps me to feel motivated about what I am doing and feels good to hit targets! Also I find that the No Spend Day challenge over on the debt free wannabe boards are also amazing at helping to motivate me to not just spend money on impulse!! I have been doing it for a while now and always have money left at the end of the month!

    Best of luck!

Hi Jodles, thanks for popping by! I wish I had started with the MF 2015 board at the start of the year, but is it a bit late in August to begin!? Will definitely sign up to the 2016 one! The No Spend Day challenge sounds good, will have to take a look sometime this week or when I have a couple of hours to spare! I take it from your signature that the aim is to get 20 NSD's in a month?

Thanks again for the tips and the encouragement!

I'm pretty sure you can join the MF challenge now, just allocate your target for the remaining months! I always start aiming for 20NSDs and then see if I can sneak a few more in, big warning here, its addictive! My Hubby wasn't that into it but joined in the NSDs for a few months and it has made him much better with his money, he no longer goes into his overdraft and even has money left over now! Took time to get him on board though!

I think I'll look at doing the NSD thing once I'm past August! not much chance of it before then!

So last week I made Augusts OP to keep up the 100% OPs for 2015, and I'm over halfway saved up for Septembers. Can't believe how well this years going (MFW wise at least!) I'm starting to feel quietly confident I'm going to get 100% OPs for the whole of 2015.. although I won't say it out loud so as not to tempt fate!

    Nearly the weekend!

This last couple of months are really catching up with me at the moment, feels like I've not stopped! Went camping last weekend but it wasn't exactly a relaxing weekend away with my 6 year old who wakes up at 6 every morning and my 7 year old nephew who wasn't far behind! If I'm still on for my 100% OPs for 2015 by October/November I'm going to treat myself to a relaxing weekend away in a B&B somewhere!

Can't wait to get my garden started this weekend, been a weight on my mind for too long, hopefully get it all done for the end of September so I can maybe enjoy the Indian summer!:rotfl:

Oh dear, a very bad weekend in the way of MFW!

My little lad had a Build a Bear (how do they sleep at night with those prices!?), I got my phone battery finally fixed (so it doesn't need charging every 3 hours!), hair cut, me and the boy ate out for lunch today....

On the plus side got loads done on landscaping my garden, and its made a real difference already. Just did my time sheet for the week gone and I've had another good week, the bonus paid on this weeks wages also took me up to my max OP for the week

The OH is away for the weekend so I'm spending the evening watching my programs I never get to watch, with a glass of Cider, listening to the gentle snoring of a very worn out but content 6 year old.. Bliss! :)
