    I dont think they let you tax it or change keepers details without a VIC.

    Its only an identity check. They will make sure the chassis numbers match.

    Is the VIC a legal requirement? Can I still tax the vehicle without it going through a VIC check?

    If VIC is required then it's cat C, as post #10, if you still have the old V5 then you can tax at post office.

    VIC isn't a legal requirement but you can't get a new V5 or auto tax reminders without getting one

    Thanks, I wont bother with the VIC then. I've still got the old V5 document and I will tax at the post office when due.

    VIC is only £41. If you intend to dell the car in the future, then you will need it done.

    Can I just get a VIC done if I intend to sell the car and tax it when this is due (October 2014) without having the VIC?
