I have a packet of instant mash in the cupboard (probably out of date but i'm not bothered about that!!)
The thing is i dont like it in its conventional form so i was wondering if anyone had alternative uses for it?
thanks in advance

Gosh, we had them on camping holidays in the 70's. the only use I can think of today, is add it to a bit of lime and give it to a brickie!0

Try putting a bit of oil on a chicken breast and then getting the mash to stick to the chicken (not too thickley.) Mix a few herbs or spices into it beforehand if you wish. Stick it in the oven for however long it takes to cook the chicken breast, and you then have the effect of chicken with breadcrumbs (healthier than buying the bird's eye stuff.)0

Just off the top of my head, I've never tried this, but I wonder if you could make some up as per instructions, and use it half-and-half with the conventional flour-and-suet mix for dumplings? Just ignore me if I'm talking rot.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Use it to make fishcakes? Or hashcakes.
Add it to HM soups instead of putting in a potato and blitzing it?
When camping I use it to thicken cuppa soups and in cornbeef hashIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Make up the Smash with water as thick as possible. Preheat a baking tray and spray with frylight, using your hands spread the Smash on the tray to about a 4mm thickness. Put in oven for about 10 minutes.
Take out and turn the Smash over and put back for a further 10 minutes. Remove and leave to cool.
Put tomato puree, oregano and basil and any topping such as onion, mushrooms , peppers etc and grated cheese and put under a hot grill until cheese has melted.
This is a Slimming World version of a pizza but it is qute tasty0 -
I put it in stews to thicken them up instead of adding more gravy.GC July: £0/£1200

Add tinned tuna or salmon to make fishcakes - I must be an odd one as I love packet mash with loads of butter and grated cheese - real comfort food in a flash!Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0
