It was another glorious day here today - so lovely that I ate my breakfast outside, as I've said to DDFW. How amazing is that?
I didn't get done all I'd planned to get done today. I HAVE sown my first batch of seeds - 2 types of tomato, 4 types of lettuce and some aubergine. Meant to sow some sweet peas as well but ran out of daylight. My list of jobs achieved today includes:- Sowed seeds - the first of the year:j
- Put on 3 loads of washing, hung them up, took them back in again
- Sorted out, folded and put away a ton of other washing
- Finished tidying up the equipment in the greenhouse and shed
- Washed down lots of plant trays and shelves
- Washed loads of plant pots
- Cleared out the area to the side of the summer house, in preparation for cleaning/painting it (this took AGES - who knew all that junk was stored behind there????)
- Picked up son from work
- Cooked shepherd's pie for tea and cleared up after it
Tomorrow I'm going to sow some more seeds, scrub down the summer-house to get rid of the algae, cobwebs etc. And hopefully give it its first coat of paint - well it's wood-stain, not paint as such. And I will chat to the neighbours about the fence. The neighbours are new and seem very nice - I'm hoping they'll say 'Nah, we'll do it.'
Anyway, I've checked my propagator twice since sowing the seeds - I always do that - as if seeds that are going to take two weeks will miraculously germinate in a few hours. :rotfl:0 -
Hi p&f,
Good for you taking advantage of the glorious weatherit sounds like you've achieved loads :T
Another friendly reminder nudge for bay of e though - you know you'll feel better with stuff gone and money inAlthough i've had NPB's and non received items to sort out
I'm in the final year of my degree

Hi there - not sure on the legalities of painting the fence but I always paint both sides as my neighbour doesn't bother and I cant see the point in just protecting one side of the fence so I do it to save it rotting
You are getting plenty done - well done - the weather is a good motivator isn't it - here's to plenty of itStarted this journey in 2013 (on a previous diary) with approx 94,000 total of morg and debt combined

I can see your point about the fence - it just means it's double the work, which doesn't appeal. I didn't go around to see the neighbours today and didn't get around to doing the fence anyway, so it'll have to wait until next weekend.
Didn't get anywhere near as far with everything over the past 3 days as I thought I would but I've worked like a trojan - tomorrow I'm going back to work for a rest.0 -

I know you're right, it's just that there seems to be so much else to do. But I will definitely list some stuff this week - scout's honour.

Oooh, well done, that's a lot of studying already done then. :T I have a degree with the OU - it's definitely worth the hard work, pretty sure I wouldn't have got my current job without it. It shows so many positive things about you - that you're smart, you're prepared to work hard, you can still learn stuff, that you are keen on self-improvement etc. etc. :T
Good luck with it - you're on the home stretch now.0 -
I had today 'off' but really I've worked so hard today, I'm knackered.
My nice plans for getting the summer-house and fence painted didn't work out - all the preparatory work took way way longer than I expected. Even taking stuff down to the tip takes so much longer than planned - by the time I'd got everything loaded up and then unloaded down at the tip, then back again for a second load. The tip itself was very busy and every skip was full to the brim - the guy reckoned it was the fine weather at the weekend, everyone did some spring-cleaning and chucked out loads of stuff.
I did this lot today:- Washed and dried all the loose covers on the furniture in the sitting-room ( 3 loads in all)
- Folded and put away already dried laundry
- Washed the kitchen floor and utility-room
- Cleaned the microwave
- Took 2 car-loads (and I mean a hatchback full to the roof) of stuff to the tip - this involved breaking up 3 rotten fence panels, a trellis and a metal shelving unit
- Sowed 2 packets of sweet pea seeds (the only fun job of the day)
- Scrubbed the summer-house with a wire brush and a hose to get rid of any green algae and other debris - filthy filthy job and awkward because of the irregular shape and hard-to-reach bits. The fence will be a doddle after that.
- Cooked tea and cleared up after it
- Made a loaf of bread
- Made breakfast and lunch for tomorrow
- Cleaned the kids bathroom
- Watched most of One Born Every Minute and cried a bit - gets me every time.
