Rear coil spring replacement
One of my rear springs snapped on my 2005 1.2sxi so I purchased 2 from a local motor factors. I was hoping for K-Flex ones as I recently fitted those to the front and thought they were decent quality/fit.
They turned out to be Green line springs which I've never heard of and I'm questioning how well they fit. The top of the coil was fine but the bottom coil seems too big and isn't sat tightly around the cup on the rear axel. Is this normal? Not the best photo I know;

Did the original ones sit like that? Doesnt look right to me.
Hard to tell from a photo though. Not fitted them upside down? Or been given a pair of fronts?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The original one had a more complete loop around the cup plus it was butted up against it more.
No they are not upside down, on the original, the smaller coil was at the top and that's how the new one is fitted.0 -
Compare the new and old springs; if they are significantly different take the new ones back for refund/replacement with the correct part.0

and, there is normally a rubber buffer thing (technical term!!) between the spring and wishbone. Looks like it is missing0

If you've checked it's not upside down (it does happen) get that swapped over with a replacement from the supplier. They aren't a tight fit on the bottom cone (means you can change them in a few minutes each side) but that looks like it's flopping about.0

The spring pad sits at the top of the spring, it's generally considered good practice to replace the pads at the same time as the springs.and, there is normally a rubber buffer thing (technical term!!) between the spring and wishbone. I assume this is a Corsa C?
That looks upside down to me, but without seeing the rest of the spring its difficult to tell.
Without going an looking under my car, IIRC the rear springs sit on a metal ring, is this part still in place?0 -

Yes its a Corsa C.
The metal rings at the bottom are still in place, I removed them and cleaned them up before fitting them with the new springs.
How do you know whether its upside down or not? I went by the size of the top and bottom coils. I made sure that the new spring had its smaller coil fitted to the bottom as per the one that came off(original Vauxhall one). There wasn't any writing on the new ones though.
