a question - I did go to the correct MSE forum but no one seems to hang around there so I thought I might get an answer over here.

Daughters friend has got the Chiltern Railway deal - £1 each on Saturday for 2 of them to travel from London to Birmingham - its was the London Standard offer from a day or so back :D and nice sensible trains as well
(And they don't have to go into Birmingham New Street which is a nightmare since its been revamped)

The friend is a absolute mad keen scrimper and saver and just loves the deals - she has taken my daughter all around London on Time Put deals seeing free preview films and going to various free events. he used all of her email addresses to register with piture and piano for the monthly free drink promotion etc. Much like us but on a Beroco day.

So I've been wracking my brain to try and think of cheap or free things for them to do in Birmingham on a Saturday. I've checked Groupon and Livingsocial to see if there are any meal deals but nothing city centre. Brum has no John Lewis so no free cake and coffee and no Crabtree so no free hand cream.

I had a look at tourist info websites and it suggested a walk alongside the canal and a visit to the art gallery, great if its cold or wet but neither of which are going to keep 20 something's amused all day.

Of course there is the bull ring and I said its essential to get your photo taken with the bull and to put it on facebook. But they have rather a lot of shops in London as it is.

Please has anyone any suggestions as to free or cheap things to do on a Saturday for 2 twenty something's in Birmingham city centre?

    Thanks David.

Msl have 20% cash back on these until the 10th.

Wonder how long (if) these will compare before the cash back offer closes.

    £14 v £10 = £5 apg plus 20% £2.80 makes it £6.20 / 20 = 31p a can

Has anyone tried this yet. Does it compare okay AvM or even SvM?

    Costa points ?? xx

sadly that one seems to have finished  I went via the website and the FB page.

I did share it numerous times on FB but I wish I'd sent a step by step pictorial guide to her now :(
I even got myself a few more cards on Monday and I didn't register them but at least I am ready for next time.

Love the idea of the buffet place, I've saved the page for myself and sent the link along. Are the drinks expensive?

We went to the Back to Back place once (youngest son and I) but you really need to book the tour as its tiny and tours are only during 2 hours on Saturdays so I expect they get booked up weeks ahead. Last year National trust had a free entry day but it want until the end of March.

Its somewhere I want to take OH as well, just have to get a good Travelodge/premier inn deal to coinside with a National trust free day and some groupon deals. Actually now I think about it Groupon did have one quite a long while back which was city centre hotel (breakfast?) and tickets for sea life centre.
I am now giving myself ideas - cabin fever coming to the surface again.
