  • Afternoon folks,

Can I join in the bed talk by saying thank you to the person / people who mentioned the website camelcamelcamel.co.uk for tracking items on Amazon.

My son wanted a new bed and mattress and we ordered the bed from John Lewis, and a memory foam mattress from Amazon. I thought the mattress was due a price drop after looking at camelcamelcamel, but no joy and my son couldn't wait any longer so I ordered it and it was delivered a week past Saturday.

**** law, camelcamelcamel emails me today to say it's been reduced by almost £30, and I dithered for an hour or so and thought after reading others successes on here and contacted Amazon to see if they would refund me the difference even in Amazon Credit.

They did, I'm one very happy bunny today so thank you to the person / people who mentioned the website and that Amazon may refund.

As for the quilt debate, we got one of the hotel quality duvets from Tesco, supposedly half price at £22.50, not feather but the quality of the cotton is lovely and soft. It also came in a blue bag and I'd be gutted if they are or similar are reduced to £2.50 now.

Debenhams are also worth keeping an eye out for feather duvets, I got my summer weight king size feather ones from there quite cheap along with one of my winter ones and there is usually discount codes floating around & Topcashback / Quidco to help too.

Also got two of my winter feather ones from one of the TV shopping channels, BidTV rings a bell and they are still going strong several years down the line. I paid around £20 including delivery for them so may be worth a look. Neither have any branding to them.

Both the Debenhams and BidTV have decent quality cotton covers and have washed well.

I take them once a year to the laundrette, wash them and if not good enough weather outside, drape them over the stair banister to dry giving them a good shake every time I go past to ruffle the feathers and no problems so far.

    PS Thanks again.

PPS Worth also keeping an eye out on https://www.halfcost.co.uk for bedding as they often have Egyptian Cotton Bedding cheap, it can be a bit hit and miss, but if you are in no hurry worth the wait. They usually do free p & p for £5 spends at least once a month too otherwise it's £25 spend for free p & p or £3.95 if under.

Thank you cheekyweegit, I've had a quick look and I could easily spend more than £25 on there. As I'm away from Saturday I'll wait 'til I come home and make some purchases :)

and keep an eye out for sheets :)

Really annoys me, bidtv warehouse is only down the road from me, yet they want to charge £5.95 or something for postage, and I could pick it up, as I pretty much pass the door.

It'd be totally worth it if it improves your quality of sleep and comfort. After all you spend a good third of each day in bed :)

Hello folks, great new thread Lutzi, thank you, just had to comment here, I switched to 500+ thread count bedding and I would not go back, it is a pleasure to sleep in and they wear so much better too, having said that my DH was in dunelm with me last week and I persueded him to buy a new pillow he could not believe that there were some priced at £89 each , he settled for one at £30 even that  him:rotfl:
