Bought a new car that had been clocked

so after talking with Arnold Clark their saying it was a administrative error and the person typed in the receipt number instead of the actual mileage and theirs not much they can do now other than issue me with a letter telling folk about the mix up, just wondering where does that leave me now ?0

There must be a way you can have the value altered on whatever documents it is that show the mileage to be wrong. Like I said, a dealer can tell whether it has been clocked, perhaps a letter from them verifiying this is not the case is protection for future resale value.0

I'm out of this forum due to constant bullying by forum members0

Keep the car for a few more years, by which time it's value will have dropped to the point where potential buyers will be less worried by such a discrepancy.0

If it's merely an administrative error then leaves you in the same position as before finding out about the error.
It was probably 5000 miles and somebody had fat fingers 5600000000000000000000 -
Loads of cars get clocked on main dealer's forecourts, either by themselves or the previous owners or keepers. Service history can be manufactured to complete the illusion.
Lease vehicles for business use can face heavy surcharges for mileage, so a lot of newish vehicles get clocked down by canny fleet managers before they are returned, to go straight to auction and onto the main dealer's forecourt.
As previously pointed out, even an exotic supercar or motorcycle, it is very unusual for a 3 year old vehicle to spend a year off the road without good reason, the dealers knew that too.0 -
"Loads of cars get clocked on main dealer's forecourts". Absolute garbage, but from your screen name your source of facts has no doubt made you hold on to that drivel.
Main Dealers have access to tens of thousands of cars, there are millions of buyers and no reason to stick out cut and shuts, clocked or write-offs as a general part of business.0 -

ok whatever, the source of my drivel is from working in the trade, and getting stung myself. Believe what you want. Clocking is still a major problem, the write off and cut and shut bit at main dealers was your idea.
Could you tell the difference between an immaculate 40k and 100k 3 year old car other than the odometer ? ex sales reps high milers cars are often super clean and the back seats have never been sat on. Some vehicles have the mileage logged elsewhere but not all.
As for main dealers having access to so much stock - why do you think Tesco's car dealerships failed? Not because they couldn't sell them - they couldn't buy them; after the financial crisis fleet registrations went down and stock of good 3 yr old ex lease vehicles fell sharply . Lots of ex lease vehicles go onto main dealers forecourts.
More drivel and garbage on the subject of clocking from the sun reading thickos at fleet news:

Sun Reader = renewable energy, solar pv etc... more of a Newsnight c4 news Independent newspaper guy actually ...
Can I ask where your source of information came from or was it just your opinion?0 -
I'm not sure what trade you work in but, "Loads of cars get clocked on main dealer's forecourts" is libellous garbage.0
