PPI Claim Against Hartwell Vauxhall Help.

Hi All,

I am really stuck on who to make a PPI claim against for a car I purchased from Hartwell Vauxhall in 2006

A brief Outline. I Purchased a used Astra From Hartwell Vauxhall in 2006 for £7418.00. My Total to pay back including interest was to total £10720.00 over 5 years.

For this amount Hartwell Vauxhall set my finance up with Barclaycard Motor Loans on my behalf.

In Order to get this finance agreed, Hartwell Vauxhall told me I would have to take out a Payment Protection Plan with a separate company. This Company was called Abraxas and they charged £1480.67 for the policy. Hartwells told me that without this policy I would not get agreed for the finance.

So I took out the policy, Unknown to me at the time the payment for this policy was also financed, This was financed by a company called 'TFL' (The Trading & Finance corporation ltd) who financed the full amount of £1480.67 for the payment protection Plan and at a APR of 19.1% over the 60 months I ended up repaying them £2241.00.

I have also discovered after reading through all the documents this weekend that the car loan from Barclaycard motor loans also had PPI hidden in the monthly repayments.

Now at the time I was 18 years old, this was my first car and my first credit agreement and I think they took advantage of this and sold me the whole works. I did not need any of this PPI as I was in full time employment with 6 months fully paid sickness.

I paid off the loan in full in 2010 as I got a good spell of overtime that year and I just wanted rid of this financial agreement.
I am now seeing if there's anything I can do to get back any of this PPI I Paid.

My first question is do you think I have a claim?
My Second question is who do I claim against or write to for a response.

Both the Payment Protection company (Abraxas) and the company who financed the Payment Protection (TFL) Appear to have vanished of the face of the earth. I can not find any information on the internet about them so guess they have seized trading.

Looking back at this now I am 26 years of age I don't know how on earth I could have been so stupid purchase this car. Its something I would never do again.

Any Help would be most appreciated

Dale.

You can't complain about the terms of the loan or the interest rate applied. Obviously you signed to accept these.

Again, this is not mis-selling. The PPI was not "hidden", it was itemised on the documentation you signed. You've only just "discovered" it because you obviously forgot about it (or failed to read what you were signing)

This is a point in your favour, although you certainly wouldn't have been paid much had you been made redundant at just 18.

Very little of what you have said indicates mis-selling.

In a mis-selling complaint you complain to whoever sold you the insurance, in this case it's the car dealer.
