22nd Feb was a Saturday, the OP has only allowed 5 days for the cheque refund. Not very patient are they ?

I figured five days was more than enough time to put a cheque in a envelope, put a first class stamp on it and post it. I didn't realise I would be dealing with !!!!!! office staff.

Any way they phoned me today and assuming they were telling the truth. Apparently they were unsure whether my name was spelt correctly and they are posting it today.

Who even uses cheques any more? Last time I needed a refunded they just refunded my debit card.

Maybe you weren't dealing with '!!!!!! office staff' (pretty rude of you), maybe they had processes to follow rather than someone putting it in an envelope and posting it.

Obviously Wren Living still use cheques.

    'Last time'?
Do you mean last time Wren Living refunded your debit card?

If it was a different supplier, you shouldn't assume that all companies work in the same way.

Do you still think Wren Living are
nothing buy incompetent, evil, rude, lying scumbags.
Because nothing I've read so far has convinced me of that.

Contrary to the OP's belief, they probably aren't Wren's only customers. Lots of companies process payments once a week, some once a month.

As for the "!!!!!! office staff" comment, oh the irony !

i bought a fitted kitchen from Wren Living. Sat with one of their kichen designers. we gave them a drwan-up plan of the kitchen area. we gave details and specifications of what we wanted the kitchen to look like. Wren gave assurances that this was not a problem. We were shown how the kitchen would look look on a 3D computer and given 3D illustrations to confirm this. I paid £4500. The kitchen was delivered 22/05/14 and remained boxed until 10/06/14 due to building work going on in the house. on 10/06/14 we realised the kitchen was not what we had asked for at the point of sale and was not what we had been led to belive it would look like from the 3D illustrations we had been given. It was also damaged and faulty. The Assitant Manager called out on the 13/06/14 and gave assurances to replace the damaged and faulty parts. but admitted they could not supply the one-piece corner panel we had specified. My wife explained that we had specified this as a pre-condition of the sale and we were told Wren living could provide what was specified at the point of sale. The kitchen could not be installed without the panel. The Assistant Manager promised to get the panel made as a "one off item". End result - they lied and after weeks of waiting they have now said they cannot supply the panel. they wont refund. And i have had to go out and buy another kitchen. Can you help.

Did you pay on credit card or take their interest free credit option? If so you are covered by Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act and can claim against the credit provider. The credit provider is jointly and severally liable for the contract.

Have they even offered to refund you for the unit they aren't supplying? That would be the absolute minimum they have to do, but given the missing unit leaves a gaping hole in your kitchen I agree it is not fit for purpose. Is the corner panel like a right angle for the worktop?

Incidentally I am in the middle of getting a kitchen from them. They were very good in the design stage, but have been incompetent since then. I'm not looking forward to the rest of the experience.

I did pay by credit card. I'm seeking legal advice. I also had 4 doors damaged. 2 had primer instead of paint in large patches 1 was dented and 1 had a hand print where it had been handled during the manufacturing process. And other parts of the kitchen were missing. NONE had been replaced always still on order. Total fiasco - bit like buying a brand new car and having it delivered without a steering wheel.

They are actually the old MFI come back to life. I know, I used to do their advertising for national and local press - the never-ending sale.

The main reason MFI went under was their customer service was crap.

They've recently changed their trading name from 'Wren' to 'Wren living' They've invested a LOT of money in new Showrooms but have not hit a single profit margin/target for a looooong while.
That is the reason i wouldn't buy from them....probably won't be around much longer.......

Expanding companies often make a paper loss, especially while they're working their way through fresh capital.

  • Sounds familiar! Currently arguing with them about the delivery of my kitchen - one of their team, somewhere along the line, brought forward the delivery date, stating that we had requested this. THIS IS A TOTAL LIE! After having confiormation from a saleman in store last week that the kitchen delivery was postoned, low and behold it still arrives this morning, so we refuse it. This salesman is now denying he told us this, and HQ are taking their word over ours, and now we have been given one of two "resolutions" - either accept a redelivery of the kitchen today, which is impossible, or pay a storage and redlivery charge for their courier to deliver in a weeks time. None of these resolve my issue, in that their whole process has been built on lies; they cannot provide evidence of these calls taking place, and as such are believing their word over ours. Avoid Wren like the plague. This is before we have even received our kitchen....
