Porting to O2 + cashback deals
Please could someone who has ported to O2 with CB post their experience.
I have been looking at this in depth and, with DialAPhone at least (according to the CS chap I just spoke to), you can't use Quidco (£60!) as the operator has to input your PAC manually at point of sale.
E2Save state that you need to "Inform us at point of purchase stating your existing number and PAC. Please do not proceed with the order until you have the PAC code as the number can not be ported after the order has been placed". So I think this means that you can still order online via Quidco but you need to call them up while doing so?
I gather that this is a specific peculiarity of O2, so are DialAPhone the odd ones out here?
Thanks for any replies and advice.

Hi Llyllyll
I posted exactly the same question some day's ago and the general concensus from people who know about quidco and DAP is that as you have to phone up you wouldn't get the payment as you have to process it all online.
Could you go through the youatwork site? They offer £45.00 cash back, not as good I know but better than nothing if thats the deal you want.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, but is't the YouAtWork (http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/youatwork) also dependant on the same criteria i.e. completing the order wholly online?
Will have to reconsider going through DAP if this is the case.0 -
If you have the pac code ready you can still get Quidco when ordering on-line.0

mobilejunkie, do you have any experience of this? How would I actually go about it? Would I ring them up whilst in the middle of the order?
According to DAP website:
"To transfer your existing number to O2 just complete the following steps:
1) BEFORE you place your order with us you will need to provide us with your PAC (Porting Authorisation Code), if you haven’t got this you will need to contact your current airtime provider.
2) Once you have received your PAC, please call us on 0800 1071685 - our opening hours are 7am to 1am. Please note however this must be before you place your order."
Does this mean they'll just do whatever they need to while you're on the phone and you can still get the Quidco CB?
As you can see this is confusing at least 2 of us so any further info would be extremely useful
.
As a further note the CS rep at DAP had never heard of Quidco and had no idea what it did!0 -
not that i am aware, quote YAW1 when you phone, thats what it says on the link from YAW site.0

Two things:
1. Since when have you been able to port to O2? Because I was told categorically both by Dial-a-Phone AND O2 Customer Services that you could NOT port INTO O2. This caused me major problems, and if it turned out that someone mis-informed me, well there's not much I can do about it but I can still go and scream out at the night - heaven knows it's hot enough for a stroll.
2. You can phone DAP, give them your PAC, go online and place the order. The cashback will be valid.

1. I always thought this was standard. From the help section of DAP website:
Porting your number to O2 Porting means that you are transferring your mobile number from one network to another and therefore it is not possible to port your number on the same network.
To transfer your existing number to O2 just complete the following steps:
1) BEFORE you place your order with us you will need to provide us with your PAC (Porting Authorisation Code), if you haven’t got this you will need to contact your current airtime provider.

2. Thanks, I'll try it.0 -
Just a quick follow up to my last posting to anyone who's in the same position as me.
This was my experience today:
Got 90% of the way through my order online using the Quidco link then, as per the DAP website, I phoned them to port my current PAYG number into O2.- Very pleasant chap answered who explained that any porting in to O2 had to be done over the phone, no ifs or buts.
- As this ruled Quidco out I didn't go through with the online order and went to my backup plan - the You At Work scheme. Quoted 'YAW1' (thanks VLT) and he confirmed that the £45 would be paid within 28-40 days.
- Got him to start a completely different order, quoted 'YAW1' again and he confirmed that the additional £45 would be paid within 28-40 days. Wouldn't let me recommend myself though for an extra £20
. The downside to this is that it required a completely separate credit check - just a word of warning.

I beleive that rules has changed now and now you can port your number and go through quidco. is that right? can someone confirm that?Quote from DAP help page:"To keep your existing number on the Networks listed above is very straightforward – just complete the following steps:1) Place your order with Dial-a-Phone. 2) Contact your existing network or service provider to request your PAC (Porting Authorisation Code). When you receive your new Dial-a-Phone package and it has been connected it will operate with a new number so that you can use your phone without having to wait for the port to be completed.3) Contact your new network or service provider on the number below and quote the new number we have issued you, your existing number that you want to keep and the PAC. 4) Once porting has been complete, please update your account by clicking on My Numbers. "Many thanks.0

Yes, the rules have changed. I went via Quidco recently for an O2 contract with DAP and arranged the port directly with O2 afterwards.0
