Samsung Pocket Neo - padlock problem - please help!!

Hi all - hope someone can help.
Just bought a Pocket Neo android os. All good, except for one super-irritating thing.
When you make a call, a huge white padlock appears on the screen, requiring a double-tap to get rid. (It continues to reappear every 3 seconds). It makes it really difficult to access voicemails, etc.
I have Googled this, and it's a common irritation. (Perhaps I should have googled BEFORE I bought the 'phone).
It's NOT a screen lock or anything like that, and I have talkback disabled.
Does anyone have an answer?
