Credit Card or Bank Loan??

in Credit cards
Hi All
My other half wants a change in career which i fully agree with as his current job is causing way too much stress and the industry itself is failing...
He wants to become an HGV driver and for this we'll need about £2000 to do the training and tests.
My question is this...I have an OK credit rating and am thinking do we apply for a credit card to put the costs on or a loan from the bank?
Using the MSE credit card checker I've got a 90% chance of getting a credit card with an interest rate of 29.9% or above...
Last loan we got was 3 years ago and is now paid off which was at 24.9% interest.
Last time we applied for a consolidation loan (2 years ago) to pay off our overdraft and student credit card (limit only £500 and zero chance of increasing this, i've already asked and they never increase student cards even tho i haven't been a student for 7 years) we were accepted in the bank but refused by head office on affordability, even though the amount we'd pay on the load was less than the amount we were paying in interest and minimum payments!
Do you think we'd be likely to get a loan from the bank? or would we be better off going the credit card route? I don't want to apply for a load and get refused and then get refused a credit card because of this, or the other way round...
Thanks
