All lenders have to start somewhere. What does their name have to do with their business ?
Barings Bank, there's a trustworthy name. Or how about Northern Rock ?0 -
When this was all with GE Capital, my wife took out a BHS store card. We moved home some 60+ miles, but paid off the account before moving, after selling our house to someone we knew and leaving pre-printed address labels to our new address, with the new owners.
Some 5 months later my wife received a demand for payment from GE, stating that no payments had been made to the account for 6 months. Fortunately I always keep documentation, but it took me over a year to (a) convince GE that she owed nothing (via a solicitor) and (b) retrieve our damaged credit rating, with a small amount of compensation (via the same superb solicitor, who retrieved his fees from them too.)
The lessons learned included an end to criticism from my OH for the amount of documents I retain, and never using any other card but those from our bank. Store cards are expensive. Any "extras" one might expect to gain, are more than exceeded by the charges. Think about it: both the store and the card issuer, have to make a profit, otherwise it makes no financial sense.
My old dad always told me, "Nobody gives anybody summat fer nowt, lad."I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

That's true - but only at a total customer level, not by individual. I've made a clear profit through cashback cards and various other incentives - accepting that other customers are therefore funding my gains through interest, fees, etc.0 -
In fact you don't have to pay them ANYTHING at all :j
I VERY MUCH suspect there have been no Deed's of Assignment issued with this sale which makes the transfer of your credit card "debt" "Imperfect in Law" under the CCA.
Next time they ask for you to make a payment, tell them you are happy to do so UPON and (ONLY UPON) production of a valid Deed of Assigment. bet they can't / won't produce one. at that point STOP PAYING THEM.
HAHAHA :money:0 -

You SHOULD have billed them for your time at £50/Hr AND gone for TRIPLE damages and threatened them with a statutory demand. they ALWAYS pay up or negotiate when you do that, but it CAN backfire on you so BE AWARE.
People don't hit these suckers hard enough.
I clean out muppets like this, they run a mile when I start on them.0
