Issue with misprice at Aldi - what are my consumer rights ?

My guess is someone had removed the SEL for the 4 pint bottles and had left the SEL for the 2 pint bottles. I am not sure but you would probably have found the details somewhere in small print on the label.
The labels are an "invitation to treat", and it is well known that 4 pints of milk is £1 in Lidl, you probably have bought it for that price before in the same store.
You handing over the money at the till is the "offer", and them accepting the money is the "acceptance". It works both ways, had you been undercharged then they would not have been able to ask you for the money you should have been charged.
If you were treated rudely, then you should complain to their head office. Step carefully though, if you were rude in reply or instigated the rudeness then you may end up banned from Aldi.
They do not have to sell you anything at any price, and they do not have to allow you to enter their premises as they are classed as private property. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

One piece of advice. Avoid Tesco. They've been known to have many pricing errors & if you have the misfortune to visit 'customer services' they can be second to none for rudeness.
We are just trying to move from Tesco because of their high prices. Went to Aldi and, on checking the till roll, found out we had been charged for two items twice. The second charge was not the next item on the till roll so it wasn't a double take it must have been deliberately passed oveer a second time.
If this had been in Tesco I would have no trouble getting my money back, what are my chances here? The only thing that is constant is change.0 -

79p is the 2 pint price. Anyone who tries getting 4 pints for that price is trying it on IMO.
Many people shop at Aldi for the value. Guess you're not one of them. Your 'principles' may end up costing you a lot more than the 21p you saved.

Yeah, it's always about the principle of the matter, some angry customer wanting to prove they're right.
When I buy milk I'm paying 80p for 2 litres. So get a decent price without throwing a strop in front of the kids.
Go out into town on a Saturday; you always see these people foisting their own misery onto everyone they come into contact with.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -

Many Asian supermarkets sell 2 litres of milk anywhere from 70p (not quite 4 pints; I realise).
In fact, Farmfoods have a regular offer on 2 x 2 litres of milk for £1.60 (both full fat and semi). They also have £2.50 coupons off a £25 spend so a further 10% off makes each 2L bottle of milk 72p.
4 pints would therefore equal 82p.
Tesco also have 4 pints of milk priced at £1 regularly. Currently, there's an offer on Quidco where you can get 20p cashback when you buy 4 pints of milk from any major supermarket: https://www.quidco.com/clicksnap/offers/all/
Add 1 Clubcard point for the price of the milk and 1 Green Clubcard point for re-using a carrier bag and ta-da!
4 pints of milk for 78p (effectively).
:D:p
Your 2 Clubcard points could also be quadrupled in value via their Rewards programme.

You agreed to pay the price charged at the till so sale completed. You complained after the sale and was told it was a pricing mistake. To be honest they refunded you 21 pence as a gesture of goodwill. If you did not want to pay £1 then you should have queried the price before the sale was made.
Thats not really practical at a supermarket check out. In an other type of shop where you are buying one or two items, its easy. But if youve got a weeks shopping, your options would be to watch it all go through one by one or ask for a copy of the reciept to check before you handed over payment.0 -
..of course its practical chortle !!!!...you just look up at the scanner when its passed over in most supermarkets i do this all time when im packing my bags ....i check .the price its scans as it is displayed on the scanner ...i often do this to make sure my yellow label bargains (in other supermarkets) go through at the correct priceSpelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

You wouldn't do it I lidl or aldi, where the op actually was. They pass through in a blur.

Have you seen how fast they scan items in Aldi?
Their till operators should be part of a montage in this video:

The OP may have been in to buy just a few items. Not everyone buys a trolley full. The more I know about people, the better I like my dogs.
